Great hammer toe device
I have a bunion which has caused a hammer toe. This little device keeps my second toe down and inline. It does tighten up the toe box with your shoes, but with added wear, it gets much easier. I really love this. Again, I have been wearing this for years. I had bunion surgery on my other foot and it was the most painful surgery, so I am buying time for as long as I can. To me this works great. I think the silicone types are crap.

Makes your feet cute again!
This is a long way review so please forgive the writer and crusader in me! I get passionate about products that really work the way it says it should! A few years ago I broke my second toe which now has a raised knuckle and has not yet gone back to the way it was. I went to my doctor and said, “I know that this is really shallow of me, with all of the tragedy in the world and much worse things that I’ve been through, but I can’t handle the fact that my foot will never be cute again in sandals.” He has a great sense of humor and appreciates my jokes. I was joking because I was embarrassed to be worried about such a small thing. He laughed and told me not to worry so I ended up ordering this product. It is not just for looks that I bought this product because it does help heal by very gradually stretching that shortened, damaged ligament. But you must wear it all the time so I also wear in running shoes and closed toe high heels. But in sandals, it is just what I needed! It is flesh colored and the elastic holds my toe down where it should be so it really looks nice with sandals. (Be sure to test the tightness.. too tight is not good for circulation and too loose won’t help... you will get used to what is perfect for you and you won’t even know you were wearing it.). I love how it works in sandals! I mean if somebody took a closer look they would see the elastic strap over the toe, but there’s no reason for anyone to want to take a closer look at your toes (unless they are 😜). The only problem is that the underneath flat part tends to slide out to the side and show when you are wearing sandals. But, AHA, I discovered a cure for this! I set it up where it needs to be. Then I put a SMALL spot of super glue under the center of the pad to secure it to the insole of my shoe. A small spot makes it very easy to just pull it out when you want to wash it or transfer it to a different shoe. Then another small spot on the next shoe. I actually have about three pairs of different colors that I wear in the summer. So I just glue one to my right shoe in each pair. I never have to remove the pad just for changing shoes. Because I rotate the shoes and try and stay out of the mud 😉, I don’t have to remove very often for washing either. AND I told my friend who has two arthritic bent toes side-by-side. She uses the double elastic product and it works equally well. The longer you leave a damaged or arthritic toe in that shape the harder it will be to actually correct it but even if it’s been a while, it will still look a lot better! Try soaking your feet In hot Epsom salts and massage the toes to relax the ligament before you put your shoes on. That’s just really good for your feet (and your hands massaging the toes) anyway to start your day with happy toes. If you think that this is just all too much trouble then I’m pretty sure you don’t have happy feet. It’s a well-known scientific fact, discovered by the Chinese for many centuries that there is a definite connection between your feet and your head.

Not worth it
Horrible fitting- pad underneath sticks way out from front end of foot - not comfortable - keeps slipping off of hammer toe - with each step makes toe come out of elastic - piece of ~~ don’t recommend buying

Works with some tweeking
I bought this for hammer toe at mid joint toe #2. My foot is on the small size [womens 6] so the bottom pad protruded past my toes. I trimmed it with a razor knife to the contours of my toes so now it fits in my medical clog shoe. The adjustable strap seems to have a one-way pull. When I pulled it tight enough to actually work it wouldn't pull back to readjust it. It has some elasticity so it is still usable but it doesn't flatten the toe all of the way. But it is superior to the multiple taping methods I have tried and as good as the expensive device I got from Podiatrist. I have taped it to the bottom of my foot at the back of the pad to stabilize it in my shoe and that really improves the wearability when walking. I gave it a 4 due to the amount of customizing it required.

Ouch
I bought these on the recommendation of my foot doctor (head of the dept. at a teaching hospital) for my second-toe, which is a hammer toe with a hump and twist/rests on my big toe next to it. The hammer toe is painful and numb. Had been using a skinnier version and/ or taping my toes. After wearing this product 2-3 days, the bottom of my foot is painful (has lasted over a week since I stopped using this product.) I have hardly any fat on the bottom of my feet. I think without a fat cushion, this product is too thick for my foot and is pressing against the bottom of my foot and causing pain. The thick elastic on to, does keep my toe down better, but it looks like it’s back to taping my toes.

This little contraption does the job
I have a severe hammertoe condition on my right foot. I used to get these toe braces (and it truly is a brace) at Walmart's store but they no longer carry them here, so on to Amazon (which has everything) and was thrilled to see I could get a 3-pack. There is an initial period of deciding how to adjust the elastic brace part on the straightener to get the comfort level needed. Once you figure that out, it usually stays that way if careful in putting on and taking off. It will fit in shoes, at least those with square or rounded shoes, comfortably. It is washable, so 3 will last some time. It truly keeps that rebel toe more straight. I've been using this type of toe straightener for years, and it does make walking a lot more bearable. I wear mine with and without socks, depending on the season. Seriously unattractive with sandals however.

Works great
I have crossover toe from a torn ligament. It is the second toe from my big toe. I am not able to have surgery right now due to life circumstances. My orthopedic doctor told me I needed to tape it down to keep it from crossing over. He showed me how to do this, but the tape would not stay in place. Also for long use it would irritate my toe. I have bought many different things to try and help this situation. None of them have worked well. I am so happy I found these. They have kept my toe from crossing over and keeps it in place. The strap is adjustable so you can strap one toe or both together. The choice is yours. No tape and no bulkiness with cushion pads to separate the toes. I am sure it will work on hammer toe just as well. It has definitely helped to calm the pain.

These toe straighteners are the best thing to help protect my toe. My toe kinks down and even though I have to keep the nail short the padding on these straighteners protect it even though it doesn’t do too much to actual straighten the end of my toe.

It helps to keep the toe down which helps keep the pain down when wearing shoes.

Not very effective.

I've been using this product for several months and I find it very beneficial. It makes walking very much easier as it aligns your toes correctly and thus your balance improves and the pain is very much reduced. While there is no physical improvement in my toe, it has not deteriorated any further so I am hopeful of putting off surgery for some considerable time.

The toe straightener took up too much room in my sneakers. Foot was very sore at the end of the day.
