EXCELLENT KINDLE BIBLE EDITION
KINDLE EDITION + PICTURES OF BIBLE FYIBy 70 years old, I've read a few different Bibles in my time. Whereas the Word of God NEVER changes, various publication interpretation DO. I personally, like the OLD Scofield Study Bible. Not necessarily the new III edition, which veers from Scofield's original notes. I am privy to various reviews on that edition from folk favorable to Scofield's original work.A great feature is that Scofield keeps most notes on the same page as the verse it commentates, even in the Kindle edition These may be extensive, but very informative with historical, cultural and biblical references. I also like the center reference section. Within the verses, references to the center cross reference, i.e. (a, b, c, etc), or commentary (1, 2, 3, etc.). Both leather bound editions and the Kindle edition have the Words of Christ in Red, deep color not the faded, harder to read hue. The book Bible may be thumb indexed, or not. I prefer the thumb index. Both are bound in cow skin; not the unclean pig skin often used for Christian Bibles?????I read my Kindle on either my 11" MacBook Air or iPod Touch 5th generation and have no problem seeing the lettering, reference numbering/lettering, commentary or verses. With the capability to enlarge the screen and reading parallel the font size is not much smaller than the printed version.Tapping the upper left corner of the iPod screen brings up the screen allowing me to advance forward/backward; a good feature IF you know what page you want to travel to. There is the option to view 12 pages at one time, a single page, and dim or brighten a page for easier reading. This is also a double column page choice. Of course, there is the ability to highlight, delete, bookmark and star a page. A forward > and back < arrow allow for fast page maneuvering. Each book of the Bible is preceded with a content summary. This is especially informative for the new student to God's Word. The study Bible includes an Index to the Introduction, analyses, notes, definitions, summaries, and subject references within the (hard copy) Bible (7 pg.); Dictionary of Scripture Proper Names (43 pp.); Subject Index (37 pp.); Concordance (161 pp.); Indexed Atlas to the Holy Bible including a List of Maps and List of Names (6 pp.) and color maps including: Lands and Nations of the Bible; The Promised Land; the Roman Empire, listing some (12 pp.). NOTE: The Kindle edition includes the Map Index but NOT the maps. I don't find this a problem. Most Bible students have a myriad of Bible maps and atlases on hand. These Bibles do not include a page for the owners name/ gift, or family history.Overall, I believe you will find this an excellent study Bible (Kindle edition or hard copy) to add to your study of God's Word.HIGHLY RECOMMEND. PRODUCT AS DESCRIBED. Very well done as a Kindle book. Easy read. Page is proportioned to the iPod screen. Someone did an excellent job with this Kindle edition. I just switched to a new text offered when I opened the book and it is excellent as well.CON: (not really) Because the content is large, it does take a few to download onto your reader. Big deal. Patience is a virtue. Right?

THE classic 'old school' study Bible
Most evangelical folks have used or seen a Scofield Reference Bible sometime over the past 100 years. The publisher,Oxford, recently offered the updated version III in the Centennial Edition which is quite lovely, available here on Amazon in both the ESV and HCSB formats at a remarkable price considering the quality. The "Old" Scofield being reviewed here in the duo-tone basketweave binding is the actual Biblical text and notes Dr.C.I. Scofield authorised and edited. The Bible is presented as the essential dispensational,pre-millennial bed-rock text.Unabashedly dividing the Word of Truth with great respect to plenary inerrancy and literal interpretation. The "Old" Scofield is the original study Bible our great grandparents used and it was a significant influence on many early 20th century institutions e.g. Moody Bible Institute,Dallas Theological Seminary,Dr.Lewis Sperry Chefer,Dr.J.Vernon MacGee,the Prophecy Conferences, etc. For it's historical value alone it should be cherished and studied but, more importantly,in this marketplace of more and bigger study Bibles, the essential simplicity and clarity is wonderful. The notes are there where needed, the cross-refs.are always inspirational to lead the reader along threads of edification, but nothing is ever cluttered here, the Word is primary as It magnificently reveals the Person and Work of Jesus Christ as Redeemer,King and LORD in all covenants and dispensations.Countless millions have found what the Bible really teaches through this august work as it teaches the student who rightly divides the Word of Truth to know Him who is the Author and Finisher of our salvation.I have developed a whole new love for the KJV in the maze of ever new translations and versions by returning to the roots of my faith by way of the "Old" Scofield KJV.As an aside, this Bible truly has the best concordance of any study Bible i use.Even if one has the Scofield III in one of the contemporay editions,to go back to the original is a delight as some of the original notes have been rewritten in the later editions.Nice to go back to the source.1 John 5:20Maranatha!

KJV
Pages are a little heavier than standard bible, easier to turn. Print size is adequate for my old eyes. Notes add depth to study.

Not a bible for old eyes
I've always wanted an Old Scofield,Geniune Leather Study Bible and finally bought it. The problem with buying online you can't handle or see the product. It's buyer beware. This bible is not a bible for an older person. It is to hard to read. The print and spacing leaves a lot to be desired, size wise. The problem with being hard to read is glossy pages and the bleed through of the words from the other side of the page.I recommend it to anyone wanting an Old Scofield Study Bible, just not to an older person.I don't like the large print bibles because of the book size.I wrote my name on it before really looking at it. So it's my loss.

Great Bible
This Bible was recommended to me as one of the best study bibles. I was lucky, I found a very good used one on Amazon. Now I have a lifetime of reading to do but the Bible is fantastic.
