180-Degree Outdoor White LED Blade Motion Security Light

I like the light b/c it's not only bright but it's really easy to install. All you have to do is install the metal holding bracket and attach the base to it. Then hook the black and white wires into the appropriate slots and cover it with the main light. One of the simplest lights I have ever installed. I also like the fact that the internal wires are enclosed in a weather sealed housing so no need to worry about water or dust getting in. The only thing you need to do is calk the outside of the base, but do it before you put the main light in b/c it's easier to maneuver the calk around when it's just the base.

We bought one of these last year and love how bright it is and how well it works. It is mounted on the back of our house and as soon as we walk out the door it pops on! It's very bright and the various times you can set it to stay on works well for us. We got this one to use on the side of our house.

Great light. However, no info or manual inside box to figure out how to install it. Had to go to the web to do that, but turns out it is E-Z simple!

These things light up the night and look good doing it. Well thought out engeneering of the light blades as well as the motion sensor. We love ours!

Installation was amazingly simple - I wish all light fixtures would adopt this same method. You mount just the base plate by itself, then attach the home's electrical wiring to the base plate. When done, the light fixture itself simply slides onto the base plate (plugging itself into base plate). Then you just secure it to the base using a single screw, and you're done. It was really nice to get the wiring done without having to worry about supporting the fixture at the same time.The light delivers on its promise of uniform coverage. There are no gaps or dark spots in the entire lighting area, and the amount of light is amazing. At full brightness, I can very clearly see things about 50 feet away from the light. The lighting area is pretty close to 180-degrees too, but the throw (distance) is less at the edges (0-degrees and 180-degrees). The light color is a cool white, so it may not fit well in a decorative lighting environment. The only con I have found so far (and reason for subtracting one star) is that the low light level of the DualBrite is too bright. At first I thought the DualBrite was not working, and thought it was at full brightness, but when I walked out to check on it, I noticed it did increase to a higher level. So basically it goes from bright to super bright. This is a minor con for us, because some of that light comes through our bedroom window shades. We would have preferred a much lower level of light when no motion is detected.Despite the brightness of the ambient light (when no motion), I would still buy this light again in a heartbeat, and can definitely recomment it for anyone wanting a security light that covers a large area.

Installation wasn't too hard - just had to read ALL instructions before starting to know there's a nearly hidden screw recessed between the two LED lights that connects the base plate to the lighting fixture. Also went through the tortures of the damned trying to find and then download the Defiant Control bluetooth app. I finally succeeded but I'm not sure how I did it. I've never used Bluetooth before, and I didn't understand that you need to run the Defiant app from your cellphone VERY close to the light (not much more than a yard or so) in order for them to communicate. Once I got that straightened out it was a breeze. Now that I finally have the Defiant app on my cell phone I can add additional motion lights and configure them in a snap via my cell phone.But what I really don't understand is WHY using bluetooth is considered an advantage over the more typical manual controls for setting sensitivity to motion, length of time lights are on, hours of operation, degree of daylight, etc. There's no way to configure the light without bluetooth.
