AIRWAVE Bennett Wooden 2-in-1 Convertible Folding Picnic Table & Bench, Natural

Assembling this table is a fun little project, getting your head around how the table works as you go. The screw fixings have no pilot holes so an electric screwdriver was useful at that point (or you could drill pilot holes) but otherwise this assembles well using hand tools only - a gadget is included for tightening the nuts. With a bit of care, it's a one-person job.Seeing how well it was made when I got it out of the box, I was confident to paint the pieces before putting it together, and I didn't regret that decision. I'll be second-coating it now it's put up, but it'll be a lot more fiddly to get to certain bits.It feels very secure, even the picnic table seat that has no support struts under the middle portion of the seat, and it's easy to switch between bench and table 'modes'. The picnic table seats are a comfortable height and there's plenty of leg-room to step through to sit on them.One downside of the 2-in-1 construction is that there ends up being a bit of a gap between the backrest of the bench, and the back edge of the seat (the space is needed to pivot the backrest into being the table top, presumably). This means the very base of your back isn't supported.... maybe I only noticed this because I carried a microwave for a mile today and then painted and put up a bench!Of course, it's not the most elegant bench in the world, but the dual function will more than make up for that. I don't have any storage space for an outdoor table and chairs, so I'm looking forward to surprising a few friends by inviting them to eat outside!

Treated the pieces before assembly. Very pleased to find that many of the pieces were pre assembled. Putting it together was straight-forward with clear(ish) instructions. Some parts did not have pilot holes but any fairly competent DIYer would have no problem. Put it all together in under 2 hours (including a tea break) Feels solid, stable & sturdy.
