Visual Sound V2RT66 Guitar Distortion Effects Pedal

I don't use effects as a regular thing, I like the sound of just guitar and amplifier, but I needed something for practice that would "help out" the sound. This works very well for me because It can be used for 2 levels of boost. Both the compression and overdrive add to the tube amp tone that I really love. With either or both of the channels activated, I can clean up the sound by rolling back on the volume at the guitar. I'm very happy with this purchase.

I was very excited about getting this pedal, as it contained a compressor, an overdrive and a noise-gate (think pedal board real estate). Alas, I was to be disappointed. I plugged this into my Egnater 30 watt combo and my American Stat deluxe. When I struck a chord, and let it sustain, it would go "tick, tick, tick" as the sound level stepped down. I couldn't get beyond the stair-stepping quality of the noise-gate, and sent it back the next day. This is a fairly expensive item, and came poorly prepped from Visual Sound. I did get an email from the company saying that this was a "transitional" problem from an old model with an adjustment inside. Unfortunately, I won't be interested in the new model as a result.

The product is fine, the sound is fine, the compressor gives a very nice tone and boost, now there are two problems, first the battery lid broke after 2 or 3 days i bought this item, its pretty cheap plastic material.and second the product may not resemble the art depicted in the box it comes

I have the latest version (the one with sliders for bass boost and tone control on/off instead of the switches you see in the picture) and it's great. The overdrive, as you probably know, is a tubescreamer clone with extra bass boost. I don't know if the compression is supposed to sound like any specific vintage pedal (the manual says it can be set to sound like a Dynacomp or a Ross) but it's good. Let me address some of the complaints I've read here on Amazon: some people say the noise suppressor had a "stair-stepping" quality. It doesn't happen to me, but it could be an issue with other versions, as Visual Sound apparently changes specs of the products kinda often (my pedal didn't look like the picture on its own box). Also, some people say the compressor is noisy. Again, I didn't have this problem. Maybe they improved the noise suppressor, maybe it has to do with my settings or the rest of my gear, but it's actually quieter than my Boss compressor. No one seems to complain about the overdrive, and that makes sense: it's a great overdrive, one of the best tubescreamer-type overdrives I've heard. I don't give it five stars because i don't like the shape and the switches feel less sturdy than EHX stuff. Also, the pedal is BIG. It ends up saving space because it's two in one, but it's big nonetheless. I recommend it, though.

I would purchase this item again and again. It did take a while to get here from Japan, but it turns out to be worth the wait. The overdrive is nothing special yet sufficient, but the compression side is impressive to say the least. This will give you the studio quality sound you have always wanted.

This is my most used pedal. The compressor and overdrive work together greatly and the pedal just look sick. I like this pedal too because it can be used for both guitar and bass.

This is a Very God compressor And it has a god overdrive its sounds sweet and warm, and it has plenty of volume, the compressor do what it has to.The thing why i put 4 stars is because it has a little problem and i don't know why, when i turn it on i have to wait a few seconds like betwen 30 and 120 seconds to hear all the volume that i put in the amplifier, i don't know why but its no a big deal, but it shouldn't do it. Very good Pedal effects :D

Great sound and tone with this pedal. I like the compression with this pedal, although I don't anyways use it. I like to stack a silicone fuzz with this pedal to really get a classic rock sound. This one will stay on my board for the foreseeable future.
