New BalanceMen's 990 V5 Running Shoe Sneaker

Been wearing the 990 series for awhile. Always comfortable and long lasting.

I walk at least 5 miles a day every day at a brisk pace (about 4 MPH/15 minute miles). I've put about 40 miles on these so far and they've been great - lightweight and comfortable. They're the 3rd pair of walking/hiking shoes I've tried for replacing some old Columbia hiking shoes and the only ones that I've kept. The other 2 pairs were Keen and Merrell. Not knocking those brands. I've owned both in the past and they've been fine. Maybe my feet have changed as I've gotten older. Not sure these would be the best shoes for runners, but for walking, I don't think I'll find anything better.

After wearing these sneakers, I don’t think I will wear another type of sneaker. These sneakers are well constructed and stylish. The outer and mid sole are durable and don’t easily flex. The pig skin leather is premium.My foot feels like it is encapsulated in the shoe. I feel like it supports all parts of my foot. It definitely has great heel and ankle support.These sneakers have been a lifesaver for me after I broke the fifth metatarsal in my foot. After I was out of my walking boot, these were one of the few sneakers that I could wear. These sneakers absorb a lot of the pressure or impact walking on hard surfaces. You become very sensitive to that in the healing phases of a broken foot. Even with my fractured foot being swollen, I could still wear them in my regular shoe size without getting a wider size.I actually like the look of the 990v4 a little better but the 990v4 are cut slightly more narrower than the 990v5. Therefore I couldn’t wear the 990v4 after fracturing my foot.The only con can be the price. It’s a pricey sneaker but it is worth it.I don’t know if I would run in them for sprinting or some serious competition because they are slightly heavier because of the materials that make them so durable. You will probably want a much more lighter sneaker with synthetic material. But for most people this sneaker is worth the price.

I have always liked the 990 series, but recently, they have stopped making them in "all black" for some reason. These are great shoes, but expensive. The fact they are made in the USA is "one" of the primary reasons for purchasing them. This had a major impact on my purchase, but not the only reason. They are very comfortable. I do a lot of walking (15K steps a day) in my line of work, so I need a shoe I can depend on, and these fit the bill perfectly.My only gripe, that needs to seriously be addressed by New Balance, is the fact they have stopped making them in all black. Again, in my line of work, It is required that we wear black shoes (it looks more professional with our uniforms), and any reflective silver or grey insignias look out of place. Recently, I had not choice but to purchase the black/silver combination of the 990 V5, as the all black version is not currently being sold. I really like the 990 series (on my 4th purchase), but If I cannot purchase the all black series on my next time around (approx next year), i will, sadly, have to look elsewhere, which probably means a shoes made in China.Highly recommended!! I stand on my feet all day in a retail setting where they decided that Concrete was the vibe they wanted to go with. I used to buy sneakers frequently enough just for the break in period as a go to solution to fixing the aches and pains of the brutal flooring choice of my corporate overlords. I was afraid of the price point on these as I was probably only going to wear them a few weeks and then they get tossed to the back of the closet. Well, I was wrong. I wish i pulled the trigger on these years ago. I wear these every day for 8 hours for almost a year before I bought a new pair exactly the same size. I bought the new pair not because they were getting worn out but they were getting too dirty to be wearing to work. I will wear these for another year and then buy another pair or until i get a new job. I strongly recommend. They feel great, look great now that they finally have come into vogue with all the kids.

Shoes were made well. The size was accurate. They look nice. (My husband’s words…he said it all in three short sentences!)

Since 1982, these have been my go to shoe style. Sometimes my wife says I should get some different shoes, but I always get these. I've tried others. But these are the bomb.

Nice looking, good padding for runners and great support for everyday and walking. I bought these as a bday gift for hubby and he loves them.
