Works
Got these to stretch a pair of shoes that fit small for size. They were on sale and adorable. It worked for me. I didn’t use the stretch spray that came with. I just cited the shoes with mink oil since they were new and I wanted them protected. I didn’t even realize there was spray until after. These guys worked like a charm for me. Not sure about how sturdy they are. They appear well made. I intend to coat the wooden forms with mineral oil the same way that I would my wooden bowl and such.

Amazing
I have several pairs of fairly expensive shoes that I never thought I would be able to wear again. These shoe stretchers are amazing! The bunion plugs allow me to stretch the shoes exactly where I need to. These are great!

Made me a hero, though not perfect.
My GF always had the problem of having to buy shoes that were either unfashionably long or uncomfortably narrow. the vast majority of her shoes are high heeled sandals, which she likes to fit toe to heel. Anyway, these stretchers work great for this, I can make her shoes fit and she's mostly stopped telling me "let's see you walk in these all day", so that alone makes these worth the price. You really need to have these in for like 24 hours to get the shoe to set though, I bought a 2nd set to deal with her shoe binges. I don't know what the "stretch spray" is but it works well. The product has a decent fit and finish. So now the reason for not giving these 5 stars: first off they are not particularly consistent in size and shape, so you really have to use them by feel and not visually. Until I really figured this out, she'd always say one fit better than the other. Then I really looked at them and one was a bit taller toed then the other. I thought maybe this was a left right thing, and perhaps this was on purpose, but when I ordered the 2nd set they are not only not consistent with each other but not consistent with the first 2 either. It's not by a huge amount but I would describe it as, of the four, having one tall one, one short one, one narrow one and one in the middle, with the variation being maybe 1/8".Secondly, is the screw, the chrome plated screw. Now this is not a particularly cheap product, billed as "Professional". Reality is that if this was indeed a professional product it would have a square thread Acme screw and not just a normal screw thread, and certainly not plated. The plating makes the screw bind and you can feel that it would be destructive to the threads over time. Taking these apart and greasing the threads with Never Seize (a special silver grease used mostly in automotive to keep bolts from breaking when you take things back apart). Anyway, Never Seize on the threads improves the product dramatically, makes it work smooth and less jerky, and you don't feel like you're going to strip the threads. The downside, I suppose, is that you can put way more pressure on the shoe this way, so you really need to "feel" what you are doing. I am pretty sure my hero status would be over if I snapped the straps on one of her favorite pairs. So far so good.

UPDATE: A 6 shoe qualifies for a Small OR Medium stretcher. So, which? I tried Small, but ...
I wear size 6 medium shoes; foot shape is in between "tapering toes" and "square" (photo); 5'2" 119 pounds, so feet aren't chubby; 58 yo & I'm DONE abusing my feet while shoes' width slowly stretches. Most of my shoes are 3" heels & a couple, 4". Just to see, I opened the stretcher in a leather FLAT; worked fine in a flat. In my pix, one of my typically shaped toe style, 3", all-leather heels with these captions: 1. "before." 2. "after" stretching 4 days with buttons galore - looks same, slightly stretched. 3. The shape that my bare foot wants when up on 3" heels, which is wider than the stretcher's closed size sitting in the unstretched shoe which is next to my fave, comfy shoe far right side. 4. The closed stretcher deep in shoe. 5. "Buttoned" stretchers placed where needed. Stretchers are size small (shoe size 4 to 6); a package "deal" with spray (smells like rubbing alcohol; didn't use it). After reading many pages of reviews, I did NOT buy the size medium (shoe size 6 to 7.5) but a size small in order to fit the toe of the stretcher deepest into the toe of the shoe (where I needed); plus in order the wooden back end of the stretcher fit into the back of my shoes without forcing the sides of the heel any wider because they already have heel grip pads installed. I reasoned that the buttons would take up space to stretch wider. But fussing with button placement (they get in each others' way) took much time in testing configurations. I also fit the stretchers down into the toe of a calf-high, zippered, leather boot folded down. Would the width of a medium stretcher have fit down to the toe; the length fit into the heel? IDK. But now knowing the shape of the wooden toe, and if the length allows, I may be happier with a medium so I don't have to fuss with buttons. 4 of 5 stars because the side of one stretcher dips low as it opens, dragging & indenting a ever so slight "trench" (it's not that dramatic, but I don't have another word) across the bottom of the inside sole, toe area. It might be a problem for delicate snakeskin, for example. Tomorrow I'm calling for the dimensions of mediums and to report the "drag." I'll order a pair of mediums when I return the smalls. UPDATE next day: Customer service was excellent! The webmaster answered the phone about 2 minutes before closing, yet was SO personable; I realized the time & offered to call back, but he patiently stayed late & answered questions; fetched & measured both the small & medium. I ordered mediums. When done, he was confident Customer Service would be just as friendly & helpful the next day. He was; & the return policy is great; I emailed photos; received a shipping confirmation for mediums. Armed with the dimensions now, I'm sure they'll fit fine in my conservatively pointed-toe heels; they're only 1/8" longer, 1/4" wider across toebox, 7/8" larger circumference around the toebox; & I won't need to use buttons. I learned that all of their products are made in either the USA or in Germany. And their Customer Service is right there with their product in Costa Mesa, California. Love that. Added a star to make it 5.
