Jonny Lambert's Animal ABC (Jonny Lambert Illustrated)

I confess I bought this book because I liked the drawings myself. But young children will love all of the animals. Plus the giraffe and the blue whale have an extra page fold out so the drawings are huge. Great ABC book.

"Jonny Lambert’s Animal ABC” is an adorable children’s board book. It is a large, thick book because each individual sheet is composed of thick compressed cardboard. Babies and young toddlers will find it impossible to tear and rip out pages as they learn their ABCs by means of the animal kingdom. From A to Z, every letter of the alphabet is covered. However, Vampire Bat is for V and Xantus Hummingbird is for X. Also, I learned about some new creatures myself. I had never heard of a quokka (a type of rodent) or a uakari (a type of primate). Don’t worry about pronunciation. There is an index that lists every animal, from A to Z, and its correct pronunciation. The illustrations are beautiful. The print is large and easy to read. Some of the board-like pages have attached side pages that flip up or out, expanding the pages upward or sideways. For example, the giraffe page has an attached page that flips up to emphasize how tall the giraffe actually is. The whale takes up a trifold of pages. "Jonny Lambert's Animal ABC" is a great children's board book for teaching toddlers their ABCs. It would make a great gift for a child. Every zoo should sell copies of this book in their gift stores. Libraries at schools and churches should have copies for their students. This is a very good educational tool for children. Most children love animals. Many, when they enter puberty, begin to lose that love. Others, such as myself, hold onto that love for animals all their lives. This board book, "Jonny Lambert's Animal ABC," will help many children to forever hold onto that love for animals.

This is an exceptionally engaging children's book. Both parents and children will learn some animals they didn't know before and will learn most letter sounds. Many of the pages fold out to reveal larger pictures or more letters and animals. I'm not a huge fan of alphabet books, but this one is wonderful. The only improvements I would suggest would be to include at least one animal that ends in X so children can learn the most common X sound /ks/, as in lynx, and another animal such as goat to go along with giraffe so that the soft and hard g sounds are both represented. Other than that, I love this book and am glad to add it to my grandparent library. It would make a great gift as well. I give this 5 stars without hesitation.

Great book for toddlers. My only issue is pages open up to larger pages and even though this is a board book there is potential for tearing. Definitely for older than 2 years old.

This book was in excellent condition. The art work is ingenious and beautiful. It contains so much to talk about with a small child.

Beautiful illustrations and good quality print, there are unexpected fold outs which can be quite a visual treat for babies.

Beautiful pictures, some of the animals are not well known and could be difficult for a young child to remember. Not clear as to why there are two ISBN for the book, the illustration on the page with letter B is slightly different in one of them, not sure why as they are mostly the same that one is significantly more cost to it. Amazon is not clear about this, yet you’re given the option of choosing one over the other.
