Q: Does this device fit inside a washing machine standpipe? i do not have a sink to drain wash water into, just a standpipe. what are its dimensions?

I purchased for the same use only to find out is is open on both ends. It will only work in a sink that will allow the water to drain through the holes

Q: What is measurement? Height and widest part?

It fits in a inch and a half drain pipe.

Q: Does it fit tightly in the drain? Will it float if submerged?

It fit tightly within the drain, but did not fit tightly against the floor of the drain tub. I think there is enough slope to the tub floor that it could not fit tightly all the way around. It still caught some lint, but some would get through.
