Great reference book, not necessarily good for undergraduate classroom use
I had purchased this textbook for a Medical Parasitology course I took, and I initially had mixed feelings about the book. This review will be from an UNDERGRADUATE student perspective.Pros:+Lots of really good information (Life cycle, diagnostic criteria, treatment, etc.)+Pictures and diagrams are helpful with identification+Large appendix with everything from staining procedure to a list companies (contact info included) to purchase supplies fromCons:-Too much information for a single semester undergraduate course-Can be a difficult read compared to Elizabeth Zeibig's Clinical Parasitology: A Practical ApproachSummary:If you are an instructor teaching a single semester parasitology course for undergraduates, I would suggest you pass this book up on your required textbook list. That said, I would also tell your students that if they are pursuing a career in the field of Parasitology or plan on practicing medicine in developing nations that this textbook would be extremely valuable to their efforts in diagnosing and treating parasite infections as there are not only pictures and diagrams of the parasites, but also pictures of people who are infected and what the wounds look like.

Diagnostic Medical Parasitology
The Diagnostic Medical Parasitology book was exactly what my daughter asked for. According to my daughter, it arrived in a timely manner. No complaints what-so-ever. Thanks!

Medical Parasitology
The book arrived in a short time and was just as described. Slight damage to outer cover which is hardly noticable and not an issue for use. Text was from a college library and was retired when new version came out. As this subject area doesn't change often, this is a perfect way to have what can be an expensive book for a VERY reasonable price. The book itself is a wealth of information and profusely illustrated.

Author administers CAP proficiency testing
Ms. Garcia not only wrote this 1200 page textbook, she runs the clinical lab at UCLA and administers proficiency testing for the College of American Pathologists. If you want a nice security blanket that you're using the best possible resources for your proficiency testing, this book is a good bet.

The new edition (the fifth) is better than the previously published. This book is usefull in a parasitology lab. The key points for laboratory diagnostic are usefull for driving lab tech and students. Infectious diseases provoked by rare parasite are not forgotten. the ratio weight of paper with a lot of draws and pictures /price is very good.Dr C. Bories
