Chasing Secrets

I LOVE, LOVE , LOVE this movie. It's a classic. It contains just enough drama without being too cheesy, and tugs at the heartstrings at just the right moments. I almost always cry at the end. Della Reese and Ossie Davis were such great actors. RIP to both.

Chasing secrets is a wonderful movie! It will tug at your heartstrings and it will keep your interest all the way through. Della Reese was outstanding and the supporting cast made this movie one you will never forget! It made my tough husband's eyes well up with tears more than once. You will want to recommend this movie to others and view it time & time again yourself.. I know that I have!

Who would think that a successful writer would get her start from two elderly black surrogate parents? Chasing Secrets is the type of movie that tears at your heartstrings. Della Reese is excellent as "Honey" a woman who has lost her own child and she takes in this abused white girl who is forced, by her abusive grandfather to do things no 14 year old should have to face. Ossie Davis is his usual loveable character and plays well opposite Della Reese. Crystal Bernard's character is also played well, as the misguided young mother. Get your tissue box out as this movie packs a powerful punch. It's a great movie about possibilities.

My Sociology class watched this movie this semester, and I loved it. We didn't get to see the whole movie, so I bought it to add to my collection. This movie covered a lot of the topics we had in class. I would recommend this for anyone. The slurs used in the movie were common in the time period this was covered, and was a teaching lesson that words used the wrong way, can hurt others. I'm currently waiting for the movie to arrive.

good movie came on time the only part i didn't like was little damaged to the case the dvd was fine just the case wasn't

One of my favorite movies, and the story may be applicable to many of today's families. A well-to-do mother of two privileged teenage daughters finds them too prideful for her liking, so decides to show them their roots. She takes them to the place where she grew up, and tells them about the squalor and abuse of her own childhood--something they had previously known nothing about. The story unfolds about an elderly black couple who loved her, taught her, and gave her a chance at a real life. Warm, touching, and absorbing--and they do it without putting anything in that the whole family can't watch.

This was a very touching movie. I've seen it twice when it was on Liftime a few years ago. My daughters were much younger then. I didnt think they were mature enough to appreciate the movie at that time. But when I found the movie on Amazon I knew I had to purchase it. I watched the movie again with dauthers. They too were touched. It is a movie that I will still watch years to come.Della Reese once again gave an outstanding performance.

Great story of a young girl growing up in dirt poor family with poor morals.She is taken under the wing of a kindly old couple, who give her the love and encouragement missing at home.Uplifting.

A lovely film to watch and feel good about.The ending is quite a sad one. I don't understand why it takes grown-up Joanne a long time to re-visit Honey and Too Tall, with her children fully grown you would have thought she'd have visited long before.It is also upsetting that Joanne never manages to return when they are both still alive. That's the heart breaking part of this story. The greatest part is that she is able to break free from her bad-tempered Grandpa and her degraded life style of poverty.
