They can be detached but I don't know how easy you would say it was.

Why is there a line in the one cup and 1/4 cup measuring cups?

then line in the One cup is for 3/4 cup measurement ... why would it be for 1/2 cup measurement when you have a 1/2 cup to measure with ... and the 1/4 cup line is to measure an 1/8 cup ... 1/8 of a cup equals 1 ounce of liquid
