The Very Best of John Williams

Great arrangements
These are really fun arrangements with a great variety of songs. The first day I had it out my daughter pulled it out and was playing through a bunch of songs. They are fabulous for a late beginner or for sight reading for more intermediate or just playing at any level. Really fun variety and fun arrangements.

From MainlyPiano
This is a replacement copy for a book that one of my piano students "borrowed" and "lost." These "easy piano" arrangements are great - not too easy, but not too hard, and they sound more difficult than they are. The music is especially appealing to my middle school boy students, but some of the girls really like these timeless pieces from movie soundtracks that John Williams has scored over the years. None of the pieces are from recent movies, but I'm sure they are used in the sequels, so they are familiar to most of the kids. There are plenty of pieces that will appeal to adult pianists, too. Recommended!

Love the Music, Hate the Way It's Made...
This is a great addition to my piano piece collections - especially by John Williams. I do have a problem with the publishing company - the pages are not standard size, which means I can't copy them and the book does not stay open while on the piano stand! I had to cut out each page (which great difficulty), then using a cutting craft board to size it down. Some of the pieces were longer, which they stick out of the plastic protection sheets! This is a poor way to make sheet music - especially not able to open and place on the stand.

Better than I expected. Exactly what I was hoping for.
After my daughter began piano lessons this year, we were given an older piano by my church. My wife is a Star Wars fan, and when my daughter brought home the Star Wars Theme from her instructor, my wife was ecstatic. But it wasn't the Imperial March that she uses as a ringtone! After looking at several stores I came to Amazon and found this on my first search. Not only did it have the Star Wars Music she loved, but many other film's Scores.I took piano for a total of nine months when I was 12, and was able to read enough to play (okay hammer out somewhat recognizably) the melody to the Imperial March. My wife on the other hand, has a lot more experience and played it chords and all! It is a very popular songbook in the house right now, and I would recommend it to anybody looking for a cacophony of Williams' scores.

Great book, one minor gripe
So far I have only learned a few songs but they have been picked up easy and seem to be accurate arrangements. My only gripe is that I wish more songs had the chords above the staff since I use that to play a song quickly. It takes me longer to figure out the appropriate chord and write it in myself if its not there.

Great book with loads of variety!
Lots of great movies themes pack this book from older themes to those of today. It's a great book to use as a supplement for my piano students. I find changing it up a bit by adding pieces they want to learn in addition to their regular lesson book is a must. This book has a wide variety of piano movie themes arranged for intermediate players. They are a bit too easy for advanced players and not suited for beginners. Great book with loads of variety!

A FUN book.
Most people have seen the movies from whence these songs came from. They are fun to play and when you have friends over it's fun to see who can guess the fastest which movie the song comes from.

Arrangement too simple
Like the title says, this is easy piano. These are simple arrangements and while it does sound like the songs, this book is not challenging or good for intermediate or advanced piano players.

Great Sheet Music for Cinephiles
A lot of classic songs are provided here, including the themes to Jurassic Park and Harry Potter, and others like the Imperial March from Star Wars. A very good purchase for cinephiles!

Full of Classics from the movies
My son is currently doing his Grade 3 ABRSM. He's had this book for a while and spent a long time learning 'Star Wars' and 'Hedwig's Theme'. The versions sound great when they're played and some are harder than others. I don't think a hardcore traditional piano teacher would approve of this book as a learning tool, perhaps because of the techniques which these songs perhaps don't employ, but which tend to form part of the syllabus, however it's a great book for boosting kids interest in playing. Skill level wise I would say this book is suitable for an ambitious Grade 2 player who is prepared to spend time learning a tune. More accomplished players might just be able to sight-read it off the fly. Some of the songs look more complicated than others, but my son was able to put together a great version of Star Wars and Hedwigs Theme.

Definitely not easy piano level
Maybe I have different expectations of what "easy piano" should be, but generally if I know a song from memory, and the music has the guitar chords too, I can play some resemblance of what the song should sound like right off the bat. This book lacks much of the music with guitar chords, and as they don't show you this in the description, it's not until after you've bought the book you realise. If you're buying sheet music to spend time learning it in depth, then I'd have no complaints, but if you're a casual player who wants to be able to play this "on sight" then unless you're more gifted than I am, might be worth looking elsewhere.
