Great way to exercise logic znd vocabulary of the language
There are some books on learning turkish ( not many compared to other languages ) but seems like they are all the same in a way. Turkish is at the same time difficult and easy language. Easy 'cause it is one of rare languages with least exceptions and very orderly grammar. Difficult 'cause it has its very own logic, not similar to any other group of languages and until you manage to incorporate that logic into your brain, it won't be easy. How to do it? with a help of books like these. Read, read and read some more... it will come to you naturaly one day.Cheers.

I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn to read Turkish
Turkish is not an easy language for Americans to learn. The "designed parallel text" method is a very powerful way to learn a new language. The stories are chosen to build on vocabulary you have already learned from prior sentences or stories. The stories are light and amusing. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn to read Turkish, and has the mental stamina to stick with it despite its difficulty. Don't omit buying the second book in this series, Learn Turkish II, short stories.

Two Stars
very unimpressed with this book. The English text is about college students in Spain.

lol hilarious joke book doesn’t teach anything
One of the worst books I’ve ever used to try to learn a new language. I might leave it on one of my Turkish Airlines flight. It doesn’t teach you how to learn the language at all. The subject matter has nothing to do with anything. I laughed so hard and feel so dumb thinking it was going to help me learn and understand the language better.

Good concept, one thing missing
I've lived on four continents, studied ten languages, and I would use this book if it ALSO included a translation of each Turkish word along with the side-by-side English phrases. That's my favorite way to learn, but without that, it makes figuring out the text take a little too much effort and thus less effective. Another excellent improvement would be to begin with a very brief, simple sentence, then build that sentence and show the progression.

An excellent way to learn the Turkish language better, not for beginners...
Learn Turkish - Parallel Text really is an excellent way to learn Turkish better than with any other book. You don't have to look up the words you don't understand in a dictionary and lose time. This is a real time saver and it helps to keep on focusing on the language. It helps you to think in the language so you can assimilate the Turkish language better. There's only one remark and that is, it's not for beginners. To use this book you already have to know a certain amount of Turkish vocabulary and an initial understanding of the grammar. Also it is necessary that you know how the language sounds; how the words are pronounced.

Pre-Intermediate
too much about travelling, not enough about day to day situations I would say...I would appreciate some dialogues as it takes a huge part of our daily language - I know the title is ''Easy Storıes'' but even in stories there is a place for some dialogues.

Great teaching or learning tool for beginning-to-intermediate students of either language.
Exactly as advertised: parallel text mini stories in Turkish and English, which are suitable as learning materials for beginning-to-intermediate students of either language. This book can really help beginners in Turkish get a sense of how grammar and sentence structure works in the language, which is quite different from English.

I have a good basic knowledge of Turkish and found it very useful
I have a good basic knowledge of Turkish and found it very useful. Not sure if suitable for absolute beginners. The English, whilst very good, is clearly not written by a native English speaker, so Turks using the book to learn English should be careful.

Not suitable for absolute beginner like me. It would be better if it had ...
Not suitable for absolute beginner like me. It would be better if it had word translation available for each chapter. I am sure it would be suitable for beginners with an understanding of basic Turkish. Ignore the reference to Italian in the foreword as I have not found any Italian in this book so far.
