Ampersand's Scratchboard panel is superior to the cheaper paper brands. When starting out I used the cheaper brand and was so disappointed that I almost gave up. Then decided to try Ampersand's board. With it, I can create the areas of lower value to contrast with higher value. Plus, using the Ampersand black ink, I can repair areas and go over them again. The board has a thicker ink layer than the other brand and hence, more control over light to dark.

This one is the best you can get. It’s a board and it’s archival. If you make a mistake, grab some Ink and it can be fixed. Not paper, durable! I suggest wood carving tools for this scratchboard. Works great. Love this one.

Amazing but cracked on corner

Since one will spend an inordinate amount of time, patience and perseverance on making any art on scratch board, it is imperative that you buy the most quality product available. I have never been disappointed with any of Ambersand scratch board products. The quality is tops and you will not be plagued with inconsistencies found in lesser quality products. Well worth the extra money.

I've been a scratchboard artist for over 20 years. I started with the British scratchboard that was on cardboard. It just didn't have the stability that this does. You can make mistakes and put ink over them and even erase. When you spray it at the end, the surface looks beautiful and you can't see any corrections.

I love the thickness and quality of these boards. I give it 3 stars because I’ve ordered several as I do custom scratch art for people. And they have all come with some flaws. Mostly around the edges and corners. So far my clients have been okay with because it’s easily covered by a frame. It is a shame to spend hours trying to create a masterpiece on a flawed board. I would send them back to get a new one but there’s no point. I would only get another dinged up board. Not a single one has been delivered in perfect condition.

I've bought a few of these scratchboards and I love them. Sturdy board, smooth, even surface, good quality. I'll keep buying from Ampersand.

Arrived with scratches and what appeared to be water marks.

Oltre alla spesa della tavola,si sono aggiunte inaspettate le spese doganali...se l'avessi saputo non l'avrei acquistata!... Purtroppo in Italia non sono reperibili..ma penso sarà la prima e l'ultima.
