By design, it doesnt tighten as tight as you may need on slimmer kids.
We got the Large size because the medium sounded like it would not fit my 3 1/2 yr old past this season, he is taller for his age but husky. Well the Large is big on him and only can tighten tighter so much because of the design. Other then that, it's awesome! Even though it's a little big on him, it totally worked and he was swimming everywhere with confidence. Totally reccomend this, but if your child is slimmer and on the younger side maybe try the smaller size.
