OTC 4706 Universal Lift Support Clamp, Metallic

The OTC 4706 Universal List Support Clamp works on hatches and hoods when the hydraulic lifts no longer holds the hatch or hood up. The clamp also helps support those hoods and hatches when the lift do work properly and adds an extra measure of safety for your noggin' from getting slammed by a hood or hatch. Simply secure the clamp just below a hydraulic lift and worries about falling hoods and hatches are gone - well almost. Don't forget to remove it before you attempt to close the hood or hatch and be sure to support said hood or hatch when removing. The clamp is well-made and is a useful device; I no longer have to support the hatch of my S10 Blazer with my head when trying to retrieve an item from the rear of the vehicle - except when I am trying to retrieve the support clamp. Throw away the stick that you now use to support the hood or hatch and try this clamp instead. Now, that's using your head!

I mistakenly ordered to sets because I assumed for the price it was just one clamp and that they were just higher than the plastic handled ones. This is for 2 clamps, they are blue (so what) and they have a large 1/2 slot for the strut so I can't see them not fitting like noted on some of the smaller ones. And they are all metal so shouldn't fatigue like a plastic one.

great for the cost, will break if not careful

Mine were blue, not red. They work wonders and securely hold the hood up on my 2006 Dodge Ram. The openings are variable so they will work with nearly any size rod!

Use these on heavy equipment and light truck hood struts. After using maybe twice, the aluminum housing begins to bend when you tighten the set screw. Not impressed for the high price.

Cheap/weak product. Bought a pair. After a month of use one broke. Didn't even tighten it that tight and yet it still broke!! Have seen this type of support used that were manufactured by other companies without any issues. This company must just use a low grade metal composite.

excellent product..would only add that a piece of visible ribbon or tape that reminds you it is in use helps..

Works as it is supposed to. I was even able to use them to hold up a tailgate while I changed the worn out gas shock. Mine are blue in color and are easy to spot in a clutter of tools. Red might have been a bit harder to spot.
