Perko 1220DP0CHR Flush Lifting Handle

Nice flush-mount handle
Bought two of these for an access panel in my house. I really like them once I got them installed. You can get 2-3 fingers in the handle for lifting. The handle opens 90 degrees, but doesn't open all the way perfectly smoothly - they hitch up a little at 45 degrees. I assume that with a little use, they'll loosen up.Installation: You'll need to cut/rout a U-shaped area for the recessed-handle part to fit, and also drill a few holes (they do include a template for cutting and drilling the holes.) I didn't do a true flush-mount, but it wouldn't be hard to do.. You'll need 4 #8 screws, not included (this is marked on the package, which is fine if you're grabbing it off the rack at the hardware store but not so obvious if you're buying online.) Easy install for the average DIYer.My only complaint/warning is that I found only one of the pins that the handle hinges on installed, and the other was loose in the package. This was true for both hinges that I bought. This isn't really a big deal, as you can easily put the pin yourself (you might need a pair of pliers to help press the pin in.) However, the pins are pretty small, so be careful that you don't lose it when you open the package, and you have to do this from the back side of the handle so check before you install it!

This handle is beautiful. It is also small
This handle is beautiful. It is also small. I can get two fingers through it, 3 if I try hard. Not ideal for full size floor hatches. The real issue though is the hinge. The metal pieces are beautiful, but the hinges are just roll pins (Example: https://www.amazon.com/ATD-373-245-Piece-Roll-Pin-Assortment/dp/B000OUUG9G/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1502512403&sr=8-3&keywords=roll+pin) that were not staying in place when I inspected the part. Let me say that again, one of the hinge pins was literally 1/2 way out when I inspected it right out of the box.The application I purchased this for was a VERY heavy basement access hatch, and this looked from photos like a great solution. lesson #1 is to always check the dimensions before ordering, Lesson #2 is that just because something looks skookum doesn't mean it is!

Nice addition to a redwood deck access panel
Nice addition to a redwood deck access panel. Parts are well made and two are sufficiently strong to lift a 25 lbs access hatch. Two handles were installed with locally purchases stainless steel wood screws. A router was used to get a true flush mount and the result is exactly what I wanted: normally flush and unobtrusive, but ready for a easy two hand lift when needed. Not quite big enough for a full hand, but three fingers fit comfortably.

Excellent
Very well made. Quite small, so check it the size fits your requirements. Looks great and works well.

No screws!
The latches are solid and well machined and would have easily earned a 4 or 5 star rating but.... the packages do NOT include matching screws. This was probably noted in the literature but not prominently enough to catch my attention and finding screws that both match the counter sink and the finish has been a hassle.

Disappointing
I have had this for less then a month and it’s already not working correctly and not sitting flat so I can’t open/close the door on the boat completely. Really disappointing and there is no way to fix it the metal is just crooked

Met my expectations
I needed a flush lifting handle to lift an eighty pound hatch from a porch deck. A pair of these satisfy my need. I do not give a five star rating only because that rating seems to be reserved for things that I "love", and the mundane nature of these handles does not inspire that emotion. I like them just fine.
