Bought these to replace old ones on my 1996 lexus sc300. They were super easy to install. You can leave old bolts on top, you don't need to replace them.

I put these on a '97 SC300 and so far so good. It's been only a day so I can't talk about reliability but wow, they're strong! I can't remember having such strong supports. They make it tougher to close the trunk, but that's ok. This was actually the second time I replaced the supports. I guess they weakened so gradually I forgot what it was like to have new ones. I can't imagine the other pair or even the original being as strong.Anyway installation for me was a bit longer than the 15 minutes another reviewer had spent. It was more like a couple hours. I got stuck right away trying to remove those plastic clips on the bottom of the trunk in order to lift the carpet off. They wouldn't budge. I ended up breaking those plastic clips but managed to get them off. I'll be buying another set of those soon.Then removing those metal clips holding the back end of my old struts was a challenge. The clips held the struts at three sides, not two, as shown in most tutorials you'll find on YouTube. It was tough enough prying the clips off the two sides but it was even tougher prying off the third side behind the bolt where it was hard to reach. I ended up mutilating those clips in order to finally pull the struts off.Actually installing the new struts was the easy part. They're strong and look sturdy. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed.

I installed these on a 99 Lexus SC300. To make it easier to install, remove the plastic stops which allow you to open the trunk even further. Install the new ball onto the trunk lid arm using a 13mm socket. Both ends slip right on. The trunk pops up when I use the key or remote switch.

Great quality, however I did have some difficulty installing until I realized that there is a rubber bump stop on the trunk hinge that prevented me from fitting the lifters. Once I realized they were in the way of correct placement the install was a breeze, and the trunk now opens all the way up by its self when you pull the lever..

Great product, installed in about 15 minutes and they work perfect. Highly recommended if you have a trunk that no longer stays lifted.
