Terrible company with poor customer service
The product itself is decent. Weights get stuck sometimes but for the most part, they work fine. The grips dont hurt and the locks feel secure. The issue however, lies in the terrible company that is Icon Fitness or Weider for all intensive purposes. I have been waiting upwards of 3-4 months for a replacement part that they had simply forgotten to include, an issue which seems to be happening quite frequently to several customers. I have reached out to Icon (Weider) on several occasions and they are downright disrespectful and poor at handeling customers. If you purchase this product, do not get too intent on using the product for a least a few months or feeling respected if something goes wrong. Better to go with a slightly more expensive version of this product such as Boflex in order to spare you the agony that is Weider customer service.

Speedy speed weights
Pretty much everything I expected, switches weights very smoothly, the only downfall is the stand takes up a little more room than I wanted but it looks nice

Awesome Alternative To Bowflex & Power-Block Dumbbells
*** Awesome alternative to the better known Bowflex Select-Tech and Power-Block adjustable dumbbells. *** Have been considering a set of adjustable dumbbells for a while. The inexpensive sets all had horribly inconsistent reviews, so I had narrowed down to the Bowflex Select-Tech 552 or Power-Blocks. Was able to see both in person and wasn't very impressed. Power-Blocks are very odd in that they are effectively a square cage with the handle in the middle; which is very awkward and risks trapping your wrist if you ever lose control of a weight. The display model Select-Tech 552 already had one of the end knobs jammed and unable to change the weight. Choosing between the two, I had decided to give the Bowflex a chance and was patiently waiting for one of the rare (2 or 3X per year) sales when they toss in either the bench or stand for free. Stumbled across the Weider Speed-Weights on Amazon and on the surface they looked good; except for the lack of reviews. Internet search turned up very little info except for the slick Weider commercials, which give very little real info. Was hesitant, as Weider isn't necessarily a name associated with high-quality equipment; but finally came across a YouTube review that was favorable ( [...] ) and even had a 6-month follow-up review ([...] ). Took the zero-review risk and ordered the Weider Speed-Weight 90 set. Below are my initial observations (and some comparison to the Select-Tech 552 dumbbells): SELECTING / LOCKING MECHANISM: Weider Speed-Weights are amazingly well constructed. Rotating the center handle causes metal locking cams on both sides to slide left & right, which allows them to slip into and out of the center of the weight plates. Plates are painted cast iron. (This compares to the Select-Tech which uses a separate knob on each end to rotate plastic discs that catch a small metal tab riveted onto the plastic coated iron plates.) From an engineering and materials standpoint, the Weider design appears much more robust. SIZE: Weider Speed-Weights are a much more symmetrical dumbbell shape. Weight plates are a consistent 6" diameter, varying in thickness to create the different plate weights. (Compare to Select-Tech with uses plates of equal thickness, but varying in diameter up to a larger 8".) Total length is 18" regardless of weight selected. (Compare to Select-Tech 552 at a slightly shorter 15.75" regardless of weight.) Length of the Weider dumbbells is right at what I'd consider a max usable size; but initial use shows that they'll function fine for all dumbbell exercises, including overhead and chest presses where they are brought together at the top of the motion. WEIGHT RANGE: Probably the one area where the Weider is at a disadvantage. The Speed-Weight 90 dumbbells have 7 settings from 10-lbs to 45-lbs @ 5-lb intervals. (Compare to Bowflex 552 with 15 settings from 5-lbs to 52.5-lbs @ 2.5-lb intervals.) However, the bare Weider handle being twice the weight of the bare Bowflex handle attests to the much more robust sliding metal cam locking system used, so the higher minimum weight is a reasonable tradeoff. The slightly lower maximum can be overcome by choosing either the Speed-Weight 100 or 120 versions of the Weider weights (although at an increase of minimum setting to 15-lbs). BASES: Weight bases are single layer plastic. While thick and rigid enough if cared for, they appear to be a more brittle material then the double layer Bowflex bases. They do, however, each fasten to full size steel baseplates on the included stand with 8 screws; which results in a very rigid mounting platform. STAND: Big win for the Weider Speed-Weight here. It includes a very nice stand as part of the set, whereas both Bowflex Select-Tech (and other brands) require a separate purchase. Stands are a must have accessory, especially when using the higher weight settings, as it both prevents the back strain from lifting weights off the floor and makes it much easier to alight the dumbbells back into position on the bases. Stand itself is incredibly well made. Unlike most home grade exercise equipment with thin metal and tiny tack welds, the Weider stand is built like a tank. Assembly uses eight 3/8" carriage bolts bolting into ¼" steel brackets with full-length welds. Stand alone is 50+ pounds! SUMMARY OF PROS/CONS: PRO: - Robust, all metal sliding cam locking system. - Smaller 6" diameter. - High-quality stand included. CON: - Slightly longer 18" length. - Less weight settings.

Love 'Em
Have had a Weider bench, bar, and dumbbell free weight set for 20 years--still going. Love them, but got tired of changing plates. Thought I'd try these, and wow do I love them. Changing weight at the flick of a wrist is great, and mechanism works great. Only downside for me is how wide they are, but that just goes with the territory. I love Em. One Amazon note: I tried to cancel this order immediately after clicking "purchase" because the shipping cost was outrageous (due to weight of course), but it would not allow me to! Wow was I mad. Thought I'd go get them at Academy etc which was near same price. However, once I dug deeper on other sellers sites, they tacked on a shipping charge too that made these on Amazon competitively priced. So check around folks and consider lugging them yourselves. Amazon: better tools on your site are needed to calculate shipping cost PRIOR to the purchase button. I couldn't find one ON THIS TRANSACTION. Hmmmm. Anyhoo, great PRODUCT!

Good but not perfect. NSG stand but a money saver.
I got these at Wallmart for $200 which included the stand. They save hundreds of dollars inferring that you buy a nonadju. dumbbells separately. The easy of transferring to a different weight is without question the best with Weider; better than any other brand. 2 things I don't like. One being the stand top is no so stable. It should be taller. I had brick drop on my foot once. Secondly they are wide, not terribly but it can actually increase muscle production.

Excellent, well constructed,quality product.
The only downside is, at the lower weights there are more plates to line up when placing the dumbbells back into the stand and you have to be more particular when doing so. Otherwise, they are very well built and sturdy and exude quality, especially against the higher priced competitors.

Built to last, and comes with a very high qaulity stand.
Ok, so first let me start off with this: Don't let the lack of reviews fool you, this is a very high quality set. That was a major thing I considered when buying this Dumbell set. There were not many reviews, so I was skeptical as the Bowflex set had over 1200. Now this is going to be pretty long-winded, but I'm hoping that this helps someone out, as I wish I had this when I was considering purchasing this item. First and foremost, I did NOT buy this from amazon. At the time amazon's price was $299.99 and could only be delivered certain days due to the fact that this comes in 3 decently sized boxes, that are, well....heavy. I bought this from Dunham's sporting goods for $249.99, which was surprising as Dunham's is usually VERY overpriced. Anywho I loaded it up and took it home. Now, the nice the about this set is the stand that comes with it. Generally with adjustable dumbells you either have to buy an expensive stand separately, or it comes with a poorly built, ugly barely able to support the weight stand. In all honesty this looks like something you would find at one of the more higher quality gyms. The stand it stylish, which is nice, but it is also very durable. It does not wobble, or move even the slightest bit - even with the weights on. The stand has 4 rubber feet that eliminate movement when taking the dumbells off, and setting them back on. Others have said that the trays the dumbells are stored on are not as sturdy as what comes with the bowflex - this is both true, and false. The reason it is true is because the trays are not made of as thick of plastic - now with that being said please realize that they do the job they were meant for very well, and will not break. Now, the reason this is also false is because these trays are meant to be mounted onto the stand that comes with these weights. The Bowflex are meant to be stored on the ground..or anywhere. You can do that with speedweight trays, and they are sturdy, but they are MUCH more sturdy when mounted to the stand. So anyways, this stand is fantastic...and its free too since it comes with the weights. You really can't beat that, especially when it high quality like this stand is. Now, enough with the stand! Let's get in to these dumbells. Now, the first thing I like about these dumbells is how quick they are to change. With the Bowflex, and the powerpak you have to turn a knob on both ends, with the speedweights, all you do is rotate your hand while having them placed in the tray. Thats all. Turn your hand a click, pick up, and boom - weight changed. Now I should mention too the grip on these are a nice comfortable/semi-soft rubber. This is really nice for if your hands get sweaty or wet. Another thing is the design of these. Unlike the Bowflex, there are no plastic parts the actually hold the weight of the...well...weight sections. It is all metal, and its a very large piece of metal too. These weights are very secure when you lift them up, and they do not rattle. There also is no way they can accidentally be changed while in the air. I know this may be a concern with being able to switch the weight with the grip by rotating your wrist. This cannot happen, and eliminates accidentally dropping one on your face. The way this works is there is a steel pin about 1" long on each tray. This pin pushes a button on each dumbell up an inch ( and it has to be every bit of that inch or it won't change weights, which is good). A few others have said about these being awkwardly long - to that I have to say they are no longer than the bowflex set. Plus, I have never had a problem where the length of these every got in the way of any exercise. I don't see the size as a problem ( they really aren't that long, some people just like to complain). So, all in all this is a very good set. The dumbells themselves are extremely sturdy, and built to last, as it the stand. These are also user friendly and makes switching weight settings fast. Now one thing to consider is this is the 90 pound set, meaning 45 pounds on each dumbell. There is also a 100 pound, and 120 pound set for those of you that want those extra few pounds. The reason I went with the 90 pound set instead of the 100, or 120 pound set is the price. $249.99 was reasonable for this set, now the prices on the other sets are not. The last I checked the 100 pound set was something close to $500, and the 120 was in the higher 600's. Thats just way to much for me, and to be honest the 90lb set has worked well for me. So, in conclusion I hope this helps somebody out. This really is a great set that it seems not many people have tried out.
