Vuarnet VL 1402 Sunglasses Matte Dark Grey/ Skilynx, One Size

Purchased from Victoria Nicole’s Closet, I can confirm that these are genuine, hand finished glass lenses Vuarnets, comparable to newer styles that sell for over $200, but a deeply discounted discontinued style. I’m not sure how she sells them so cheaply (some styles at $50-75) which is well below any of the eBay sellers. I’ve now bought 3 Vuarnets from this seller.On to the glasses. The 1402 is actually a current style, just not in this color combo. The frames are deeply wrapped and contoured, fitting very tightly to my face at the lower edge. It actually touches my face, which is a little odd feeling, but very nice in terms of almost goggle like light/wind tightness. I don’t wear sunglasses to ski, but feel like I could with these. The end of the ear piece has a little outward ramp, which is a little difficult to slide over my ear, but fine once on. Fit & finish of the frame is top notch as you’d expect.The Skilynx lenses are very interesting. They are a yellow tint, which is immediately unnatural compared with more copper tinted contrast lenses. But once your eyes adjust, they do a sort of magic with contrast in flat light. A bit much in full sun, and not as good a brown in fog/haze. The bi-mirror kills some glare. Not as much as a polarized lens would, but without any of the polarizing artifacts (and proves perhaps better than any other non-polar that you don’t necessarily need polarized lenses even in full sun. I don’t think I’d want these lenses as my only lens (I’d go for one of the Vuarnet browns), but is very nice to have in my collection, and regularly used. I’m looking forward to seeing what they do in the snow. I added some sample images through the lens in mixed light - keep in mind that once your eye adjusts, they do not look this odd.
