Great hard surfacing electrode
Great electrode. It performed better and went on smoother when I turned up the heat.

Great value!
Pre heat your steal b4 using. If you want it to hold.Burns smooth lasts well way cheaper than the weld shop, and same quality as expensive rod!

Decent abrasion resistance, not for high impact
I bought this rod as a cheap alternative hard facing for anvil repair, as some other reviews have mentioned. It lays down nicely over mild steel DCEN, clean beads and the slag comes off easily. Tested laying down two layers on a 4" round chunk of mild steel after preheating to 350F. In short, it's not very impact resistant (and the data specs do say low impact). Perhaps it's a good build up equivalent for Stoody 2110, but not as hard as I was hoping because light hammer blows still left marks on the surface after grinding flat. Specs say RC 52-58 as welded but I have doubts. I'll check with hardness test files as soon as I can get some and update my review. Four stars because it really is decent for the price, just not right for my application, which should have been obvious from reading the description (ie moderate abrasion and low impact).

Love it!
The rod is a pleasure to run. It lays down well. Fills well, so far it’s my favorite rod.I’m refacing an anvil. The end of the face had been beaten off. So a build up was in order. Funny thing, the buildup was easy. The grinding to get the surface square and flat, not so fun. This stuff is hard.....very hard.Good product.

Good rod for an anvil reface. Cross checks a little.
Used to face a harbor fright anvil as an experiment. Used about three layers. Some small cross checking (cracking). I didn’t follow through hard facing my good (ish) anvil because of the checking. Runs nice and smooth. Slag was easy to remove.

Worth the money
Great rods! Resurfaced a 140 year old 126 pound Peter Wright anvil and after several months of use it's holding up great!

worked well
Worked better than expected; used for hardfacing a homemade anvil. Worked well.
