Black OPS II
this was my first time playing the COD series. i would caution anyone who is new to this game and buying it for the multiplayer/online play, to understand that it is not a "pick-up-and-play" type game; meaning that most likely, you are not going to be very good at it to begin with. it is a very fun and very addictive game and it will be very frustrating to new players as it takes some time to get used to the controls, aiming, POV, and the maps. plus, you start at the bottom with basic weapons and no accessories for them and its a "pay your dues" type of thing. as you get more accustomed to the play, you will be able to unlock very neat weapons and the controls and POV will become natural to you. it took me about 3 weeks to get the hang of it, during which i vowed to never play the game again as it seemed I was always the "sacrificial lamb" in the online matches...now i have a hard time putting the game down. again, once you get the hang of it, the game is really fun and is really never the same each time you play it. after my 3 week "break-in" period, i was able to advance past level 55 and "prestige" in less than a week-and-a-half. as for the reviews mentioning bugs and problems with the online play, i have experienced none. i have a moderate high speed connection but nothing fancy, so most anyone with a good cable or DSL should be good to go. so, if you have the time to put into this game and don't get discouraged while learning to play, you will most likely really like it and it may even become an addiction for you, too.

Really great game.
Once again the story line is a better action film than any action film (granted in part because you guys know how to combine the greatest scenes from action films). Total bull and unrealistic, but entertaining. Anyway, the gameplay on this is great. I actually love how they did this. The variety of mission types was great. That strike force stuff was really awesome. Really want to see more of this stuff. Weapons customization for the win. I like the variety of firearms though you guys can always expand. Also huge fan of how they took Reznov from World at War and spun this whole series out of it. Freaking awesome. I hope they keep making games that explore the conflicts of the cold war. If Activision reads this, it would also be cool if you guys could tell the broader story. I'm still waiting for a call of duty game where I'm playing as the Germans, Italians or Japanese shooting at the Americans. I really appreciated how you guys told Canadian and Polish war stories in Call of Duty 3. Keep doing that. One thing that really bugs me though is you always assign the wrong damn weapons to foreign armies. Why the hell aren't the Russians using Russian rifles? Screw people paying you guys to advertise their guns.... keep it legit. We overlook that it's all ridiculously over the top, but at least get the guns right you noobs.

My Favorite Call of Duty Yet
Since there are so many reviews of this game I won't go too in depth but I've had both the Xbox 360 version and PS3 version and made it to prestige master on both because this is one of the few COD's I've liked this much that I can invest the time into it and not get sick of it. Without a doubt it's the best looking COD created so far and has the best campaign mode yet with an incredible amount of replayability due to the many different ways the dynamic story can go. I don't care for zombies that much but it can be fun if you play with friends or other people online that are good at it. The Modern Warfare campaign is very good in its own way and those games are always fun to go back and play now and then but for whatever reason I've loved the Black Ops series more and hope Black Ops 3 will be made and find a way to continue the same story or be related to the first one somehow. Nearly all the maps on this game are very enjoyable, I love the freedom to create your own playercards and emblems, and gun customization is great. It's a whole lot packed into a game that can be bought cheap now and still has a huge amount of player traffic so there's fun to be had in this title for years to come.

Black Ops 2 - Back in Black
Treyarch returns with the sequel to the hit title Call of Duty: Black Ops. This time around, Treyarch seeks to revitalize the stale franchise in ways that often actually work. After the reorganizing of Infinity Ward, I wasn't sure if I would ever really love a Call of Duty title again. I really enjoyed Black Ops but it still had that "sameness" to it. Looking back, I think a big portion of that was due to the recent modern military settings the franchise had been exploring. It was, in a sense, repeating the same mistakes it had made by constantly utilizing the World War II setting. With Black Ops 2, we are transported to an imagined future filled with high tech gadgets and fast paced warfare. The campaign is short as the previous Call of Duty titles since the popularization of online multiplayer have been. Imagine playing through a triple size action movie. Now imagine playing through a good action movie. That's exactly what the single player experience feels like. The integration of futuristic gadgets and methods of warfare is very refreshing as opposed to the old "walk down the corridor until all the enemies" are dead scenario. To be certain, there is still much of that. However, the large set pieces and action moments serve the story well and mix things up. The Strike Force additions are also a nice, innovative touch with the primary drawback being your allies' AI. I commend Treyarch for their well done attempt at moving the series forward. Multiplayer in Black Ops 2 is definitely the best we've seen. There have been many changes to discourage camping such as making Ghost and suppressors harder to unlock (Ghost also only works when you are in motion). The new scorestreaks (previously killstreaks) are very fun to play with and further immerse the player into that futuristic world of war. Scorestreaks, by the way, is perhaps the best system I've seen to reward players. Everything you do in game (assists, caputring objectives, etc) gives you points towards your overall scorestreak. This does well to encourage team play and get those pesky run-and-gunners to provide some level of support. The create-a-class system has been revamped with the all new 10 point system. This allows you to cater to your favored playing style in a way we've not seen before in the franchise. Customization is still there with playercards, weapon attatchments and camo (no face paint this time). The maps are also wonderfully designed and a welcome break from the trainwreck design featured in MW3. There are also a lack of contracts as seen in the first Black Ops. That was a feature I really enjoyed and so it is sad to see that wasn't carried over. Leveling up is somewhat harder and thus unlocking items for use is also more difficult. Most players are thus on a pretty equal footing for the first half of the leveling system. Overall, this is the best entry in the Call of Duty franchise since the initial Modern Warfare. Detractors of the franchise are still not going to find anything to like about the game while fans are going to revel in the very welcome changes. I think it is necessary to point out that Black Ops 2 serves to change and perfect what needs to be done while still preserving the essence that is Call of Duty. Players really don't want the series to change into something that is hardly recognizable as Call of Duty. More like they want the experience to feel fresh. I think Black Ops 2 does that well.

Finally a well balanced COD
I got Black Ops 2 and couldn't be happier! Everything about this game is amazing. No over powered weapons, no camping, no predator missiles every 5 seconds, and no over powered perks. The guns are balanced and the maps are amazing!! In multi-player I have yet to get into a lobby here I have less then 4 bars. The whole game itself runs very smooth and the 10 point class setup is awesome!! I never used my secondary weapons, and now I don't have to have one, and I can have 3 attachments on my primary!!! AWESOME!!! Also, the Noobish perks like ghost aren't unlocked til level 45 or 50. It is up there. I played for 5 hours straight once I got it, and am already level 23!! My game is soo much better with the new score streak system, finally I am rewarded for playing the objective. I think I have only been in second place 4 times in 5 hours while playing. That's how much better it is to play the objectives in the game. Anywho, I could talk about this game all day, but I would rather be playing it, so I will wrap this up saying it is an amazing fun game and well worth the money, and I highly recommend it!!

Great Campaign, some multiplayer glitches...
Yes, I am still one of the few people who buys and plays for the Campaign mode and think of the multi-player as an add on. So far, I am about 6 hours into the campaign and believe I am almost done with it. One word to describe it: "Amazing" Not only is this the best story in any COD game I have ever played, (This one is my 5th), Treyarch actually added new features to the gameplay. Now, more than ever, decisions I made influenced things like who died and the story outcome . There is also a new mode, which lets you control battles from a third person perspective. You can switch to any character's first person perspective or drone in battle, if you like and think your army is not preforming well, using your own skills to help the team. Zombies is also back and better than MW3's. There is a new "mini" adventure mode, in which you and others try to uncover secrets about the place ur exploring, pretty fun, but you always end up dying, as there is no end to this "adventure mode" You can also fight off waves of Zombies like the other games, but to me, zombie's was not really why I bought this game and gets old after a while. Multiplayer is why a lot of you bought this game, and rightfully so. This time, multiplayer introduces features like the new 10 point system, letting you pick from a selection of weapon "grades" But also with this, are the glitches activation brings to every game. Match making is really bad. It took 10 minutes for every game I have played so far to be found and connected, which is way too long when you only have an hour to play. I'm sure activison will release patches in the near future to fix this, but for now, its pretty unacceptable. So far, I'm only level 31, but from what I've played. the spawning is terrible. It doesn't matter which map I play, two seconds after I spawn, a camper decides to screw me over, it gets annoying, and I hope Activision fixes this as well. Truth be told, I would be playing right now if I were at home, and if MIT's professors weren't so boring, I probably would not be writing a review while my teacher is talking about the molecular levels of hydrogen. (Sorry, back to the point)... Overall, this is a fantastic game other than some multiplayer issues which can easily be fixed. 9.1/10

a review on the campaign, multiplayer, zombies and combat training
well, color me surprised. after having been disappointed by the last couple of CoD games, i was hesitant to purchase black ops 2. a lot of the gripes and criticisms of black ops 1 and more particularly MW3, were wholly justified. but, being the sucker that i am, i forked over $60 because i love me a FPS and i really enjoyed combat training in the first black ops (more on combat training in a minute). after having spent nearly a week with the game, here's my verdict: campaign - in short, it's a massive improvement over the last four CoD campaigns. i don't think it's stretch to say it's the best CoD campaign since CoD4. yes, it still looks dated (very dated, actually), but what it lacks in snappy graphics it makes up for in pure fun. all the trailers leading up the game led me to believe the campaign took place in the future. well, only about half the game takes place in the future. the other half takes place during the last days of the cold war. all the protagonists from BO1 are back and they all still speak like testosterone-happy alpha males (the franchise really, really needs legit writers who can write dialogue). however, the gunplay is what matters and that's where BO2 excels. first of all, you can customize your load out before you start every mission. it's a nice touch that allows you play your way. not all guns, attachments, camos, etc are available right off the bat (you have to unlock them like you do in the multiplayer), but it's a nice change. the campaign also gives you several choices in the game that will affect the outcome. this is practically unheard of in FPS games, so kudos to treyarch for mixing it up and bringing something new. each mission also has a series of ten challenges specific to that particular level. some of the challenges are fairly easy, but some are very challenging. and sometimes the only way to complete all the challenges is to replay the mission. the only part of the campaign i don't care for is the strike force missions (but that's probably because i suck at real time strategy games). multiplayer - ah, the great love-it-or-loathe aspect to all call of duty games. i haven't played any CoD multiplayer since MW2. i got sick of the glitching, camping, obsession with killstreaks, etc. BO2 isn't a drastic departure from the formula, but it's a least an improvement. scorestreaks have replace killsteaks which encourages more team play. smart move. the maps are much improved, in my opinion, from BO1. in fact, there's not a map i don't care for. the sound design is 1000 times better. where in BO1 it sounded like you were shooting pop guns and peashooters (pew pew pew), the guns in BO2 are hefty, beefy and actually have some bass. they sound great. not BFBC2 great, but close enough. i haven't experienced all the freezing on my ps3 that many others have noticed, but the lag is absolutely horrendous. rubberbanding is non-stop, hit detection is often spotty, and with 650,000 people online at any given time, i'm not sure why it can take five or six minutes to get a game started. but, despite it's flaws, it's the most fun i've had on a CoD multiplayer since CoD4. zombies - again, kudos to treyarch for not resting on their laurels and simply regurgitating past incarnations of this mode. sure, it's still zombies, but in addition to the tradition survival mode, you now have the tranzit mode and griefing mode. i haven't played too many zombie matches (i don't last long anyway when i do), but it's definitely fun and challenging. combat training - honestly, combat training, for me, was the best part of BO1. sometimes i just want to kick back, practice, own the AI, play with a friend or two and not worry about having to listen to a bunch of hopped up pre-pubsecent, vulgar kids. combat training was the main reason i bought BO2. unfortunately, combat training as we knew it no longer exists. you can still set up bots and play games, but there's not combat training progression. i was really disappointed about that. all the guns and unlocks are available right from the beginning, which isn't a bad thing, but part of the fun of multiplayer and combat training is the ever-present allure of unlocks. on the positive side, all game modes are available in bot games (free for all, team deathmatch, kill confirmed, domination, headquarters, etc). i really wish there were a combat training progression, but you can't win them all. all in BO2 is without a doubt the best all-around CoD game since CoD4, in my opinion. there's plenty to admire and my hat's off to treyarch for making a concerted effort to try something new. given CoD's popularity they certainly didn't have to do it, but that fact that they did earns my respect. just hire some better writers next time.

Live and Learn-I Wish I Could Make a Living Doing This
I gave this game five stars. You will wonder why in a few minutes. OK. So, I am a smart guy. Got a few degrees and a doctorate in law. Which means, I should read and know better. BUT, I do give credit where credit is due, and Activision has a scam to make money that makes lawyers look like...Girl Scout Cookie sellers. Black OPs 2 crashed my PS3 within three minutes. I have an original PS3. Never been a problem. In fact, it works perfectly all the time. I bought it because it had a Blu Ray player in it when Blu Ray players were selling for a grand. The PS3 was on sale for around three bills if I bought a Sony Bravia TV on sale for a grand in 2006. Sold. So,. I have played LOTS of games on this system. When I purchased Black Ops 2, I purchased an Xbox type PS3 controller for a friend who likes that controller, and I got the Frag thingie that lets me use a mouse in the right hand and an erg controller for the left. I don't like the PS3 controller. Just me. So,. we load the game, the game calls for the famous NOVEMBER UPDATE...and my PS3 crashes. After four attempts, after clearing everything off the drive, after hours of wasted time, the system crashes every time I try to load this FIFTY DOLLAR GAME. The short of it...DO NOT BUY THIS GAME UNLESS YOU HAVE RENTED IT AND TESTED IT ON YOUR PS3. AFTER buying it, and it seems it is not refundable after opened, which makes no sense, since you can't KNOW if it will crash your console until AFTER you own it, I did what I usually do and did not do in this case.....google PS3 crashing when loading Black Ops 2. Well, imagine my surprise when millions of hits showed up of folks JUST LIKE ME...we gave our money to Activision for NO SANE REASON. Yes, I gave away fifty bucks. Just like that. I know folks who have tried too many times to load the game, and guess what? It destroys their console. Done. Kapupt. Won't ever start again. Morale of story: Activision did a horrible job on this game for PS3. My Xbox friends just LOOOOVE this game. I will never know. I like my PS3 because it streams perfectly, plays Blu Ray perfectly, and plays all my OTHER games perfectly. Skip Black Ops. Oh, and why did I give it five stars? Because any company that can get away with stealing fifty bucks, legally, is worthy of my respect. After all, I am a lawyer. And winning is everything. Caveat emptor, folks. Caveat emptor. I lost. They won. The end.

C.O.D's
As a great series expands into the new era, the Call of Duty: Black ops is beginning to loose its originality. I think its time the developers look back at their greatest feats with previous COD's set in the WWI, WWII and the World at war releases. Need another angle to rejuvenate what is certainly a slipping game and storyline. Graphics are awesome, still a good shooter, great multiplayer upgrades and replayable value. Predictability is high, to me the greatest feature is the imrpoved multiplayer. Cant wait for the new series, rumours surrounding, Secret War, Future War and Space War. None the less the game delivers and the story needs a new twist. I'm sure with the heat in the eastern part of the world someday we may see it in gameplay.

Received the package in a very good condition and also incredibly fast delivery, as always by Amazon. Good game play as well in this sequel to the First part of COD Black Ops series. The story mode is so intriguing that even playing the same in PC, I again dived back in the PS3 platform.... ;)
