Can i free motion on this machine? suitable for quilting patchwork?

Yes you can, although you can't drop the feed dogs like you can on other machines, so you have to buy a raised plate to sit on top of the one already in place. It does give a little lip, but does not play detriment to the sewing. I bought one with a freehand embroidery needle too and it was expensive, around £45 for the two in a set, but it works really well.

Does it have a metal bobbin case? Like a factory machine

Yes it does have a metal bobbin and case. The bobbins are amazing in that they hold so much thread.

How much does the HD9 weigh?

I don't know exactly, but it feels like it weighs a tonne! Massively heavy, still portable of course, but short distances for very little time, like picking up to put on a table. A firm surface is definitely required to place it on and there is no chance of it moving or slipping anywhere when in use. It's brilliant.
