Dog Bowling
This review is for the 9 ounce (smallest) size. We bought three for three dogs, all under 22 pounds. To raise the bowl, or not raise the bowl. If you're looking at these bowls, you're either trying to decide, or you've already decided. We were there once too and, obviously, decided to raise the bowls. I can't help you decide whether to raise your dog's bowl but can tell you what I think of this product. We chose this bowl primarily because of the amount of rise from the floor. It is not as dramatic of a change in height as other bowls provide. If you check reviews, you'll note that there are mentions from some people about their disappointment that these Petego Yoga Pet Bowls did raise as high up from the floor as they wanted. My best suggestion is to blow up the product pictures on the Amazon.com pages of the brands you like. The differences are readily apparent in many. Many schools of thought exist, but for the most part, those that believe in the benefits of raising the bowl believe that raising it too much provides no benefit. Also, that it doesn't take much of a lift to provide a benefit. (If you have BIG dogs, you should do research because it appears too much or little really matters because of something called "gastric dilatation and volvulus syndrome.") I made my decision based on observation, trial and error. In other words, these are not our first raised bowls. An equally important reason, to us, for choosing the Petego Yoga Pet Bowl is the angle of the bowl. Of the brands of bowls we tried, the Yoga bowl is the only one with shorter legs on one side to give the bowl a slight tilt for even easier access. Regarding sliding around, there hasn't been any of the movement problem that some others have mentioned (tile floor). These are sold as bowls, or bowl holders. Petego makes a china bowl that fits inside this holder (so that your dog isn't eating directly from plastic). Petego Tulip Ceramic Dog Bowl, Small is sold separately and costs more than the bowl holder. I found a less expensive alternative. A different brand. ProSelect Stainless Steel Dog Bowl with Rubber Base, 4-1/2-Inch, 9-Ounce is less than half the price. Are they perfect? No. They aren't as cool looking, for one and second, they don't have a rim that extends out. But they fit right and I'm keeping them. Besides, I'm a klutz, if I'd bought the ceramic ones, I'd have already had to replace one. Instead, it was one of the stainless that I dropped. It was just noisy, no damage! If you've decided on raised bowls for your dog(s), out of the four designs I tried, this is my favorite because of its height and angle. I would have loved it, versus liked it, if Petego would have offered an unbreakable bowl, like the stainless I found, and didn't sell it separately.***UPDATE***In my original review, I said that "I would have loved it, versus liked it, if Petego would have offered an unbreakable bowl... and didn't sell it separately." A kind Amazon reviewer directed me to look at ASIN: B00BK2DLKS, the stand and bowl TOGETHER! After ordering one to make sure I liked the ceramic bowl, I decided to return the original stands and replace them with the stand and bowl combo (ASIN: B00BK2DLKS). The bowls are thick ceramic, breakable obviously, but it would take some force. Like the stand, the bowls are taller on one side than the other; they fit perfectly and have a wide rim that extends to the edges to help keep gunk off of the stand. My review of the stand and bowl together is 5 stars, the stand alone remains 4.

Good solution for an elderly kitty.
I got these to replace a wire-type double diner that just wasn't working out. My cat is 20 years old and blind, and would sometimes get one of her legs stuck in the openwork diner, or tip the bowls out onto the floor trying to reach the food inside. I had recently been trying to tip the bowls forward using a sponge, which sort of worked, but when I saw these holders which are actually designed to tilt, I decided to try them.I opted for the bowl holder without the accompanying bowl, since I use shallower small dishes (fruit/dessert bowls) like these:http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000CFPY7/ref=wms_ohs_product?ie=UTF8&psc=1The deeper bowls designed for the Yoga are suitable for a dog's snout but not a cat's. My existing bowls fit just fine in the holders and can be easily changed out. The plastic is heavy duty, and can be tossed right in the dishwasher. The weight helps keep it stable, and the 'apron' design also catches more of the overflow mess than the wire types do. So far she hasn't put her foot in the bowl trying to 'locate' the food or tip the bowl toward herself, and while I would have liked just a pinch more tilt, it does a fair job of keeping her food (which is usually very soft or even blended to suit her few teeth) toward the front of the dish where she can reach it.It would be even better if they could bring the price down a little, OR if the angle could be adjusted somehow, perhaps with a couple of extra interchangeable feet in varying heights. It does seem to be working out well for our old girl.

I ordered these in size small for my Yorkies after I bought one for my very large granddog and saw how well make the product it. The bowls arrived quickly. were well packed and had no damages. The quality is excellent. The size and shape work well for a 14 year old Yorkie and a 3 legged Morkie. The only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 stars is that the ceramic bowl has a rough texture that "grabs" the food and makes it a bit harger to clean that a smooth surface. The other reason is that there is a small "groove" in the bottom of the bowl that soft food collects in. One of my dogs is missing front teeth and has great difficulty in getting food out of the groove. All in all, a great product and i would buy them again.

sturdy, and stable
We needed an elevated water dish for an eight year-old Cockapoo and a five year-old Havanse mix with a right front leg amputation, who measures 10" at her shoulder, to use. We used a standard six inch stainless steel bowl instead of the tulip dish that is made for this item. The medium size is about 4" at the front and 6" at the back. The dish is very stylish, sturdy, and stable. It works well for a water dish since we keep it filled. However, our tripod prefers to use another elevated dish that we bought on Amazon which is a full 6" in height. This is going to be the outdoor water dish.

Perfect dog dish
Perfect. I have three other bowls exactly like this in different colors. When our 4th rescue arrived, I immediately looked for the additional bowl in another color. Amazon came through again. The bowl is quiet (important for skittish dogs), slightly raised (great for older necks on little dogs), and easy to clean and stack. It doesn't skid on slick or carpeted floors. I love them. I just wish that the company made one slightly smaller than the SMALL. But my 4 pound dog has no trouble with it. And I appreciate the color variety. It helps everyone keep their noses in their own dinner. Hope there is a 5th color out there if another rescue should appear. These bowls are THE BEST! And if you want ceramic, the insert is perfect and the bowl acts as a secure holder. With our without the ceramic bowl, the bowl tilts just a tiny bit to help the dog.
