Incomplete set (got 2 right sided backs instead of a right and left)
My 6 yo daughter is making the sloth for a school project. Unfortunately it came with two left sided back pieces and no right sided back pieces. Supposed to have one of each. It’s to late to request a new one or additional piece since project is due this week. What we have will have to do. Other than getting the wrong piece, the rest of it is as described. My 6 yo can easily do the regular stitch but needs my help to do the blanket stitch. The pre cut pieces and pre stamped wholes make it easy for her to do the project with minimal assistance (except for blanket stitch). We are almost done as seen in photo. I’ll update post if there are any issues finishing the product.

Great for older kids, like tweens and teens.
This is a really cute set that actually exceeded my expectations. This brand has been a little bit hit or miss for us, with some kits really missing the mark - but this one is a definite hit.I have a special needs kiddo who is almost 10, and he loves doing crafts. I try to find things to do with him that improve his fine motor skills, and also something he can proudly display when he completes it. We had a lot of fun working on this, and the final product was a success! It actually turned out well and looked like the picture, which is pretty rare for stuff like this.Everything you need is truly included in this kit, and all items are pre-cut perfectly. We didn't have any issues with getting everything to work and fit together, and the quality of the materials were excellent. One item that I would like to note, is that this says it's for ages 8 and up...but I really think this works best for kids a little older than that, if you're not planning to be very involved in it. It's a time-consuming project with a lot to follow along with, and while there are clear instructions, it may be a little more involved and complicated for some 8 year olds, depending on their maturity level and experience with things like this. You could safely get this for most 10-11 year olds (and older) and they would probably need more minimal guidance on it, for instance...but younger kiddos may need a lot of help with this, because it's kind of a lot for that age group. All kids are different, though, so YMMV.Overall, this was a fun project that my son absolutely loved working on, and it's definitely something he loves proudly displaying in his room as his masterpiece, so we're happy. He loves elephants, so this was right up his alley, and although it almost looked like this would be best for girls...it's not overly "girly" and he really enjoyed completing it.Super fun kit, and two thumbs up from this household!

Great craft for a kiddo that loves to sew
My 9 year old loves sewing crafts -- to the point that I have bought her a sewing kit, felt and stuffing and turned her loose to make her own creations. She also loves elephants, so this was worth a try and should have been an easy project. The kit comes with everything needed to complete the project. The cork fabric is amazingly soft and subtle, with a short velvet feel to it. The pieces are cleanly cut and match up nicely. All the holes were punched cleanly, she just needed to pop them out. Some pieces are stick on and I guess it will remain to be seen how long they last. The biggest challenge was that she had never done a blanket stitch before, and she picked that up after being shown once. I think it would have been fine to slip stitch around but she wanted to do it "right." Getting the head to come together was a bit confusing but she was able to work it out using the directions. If you have a kid that loves to sew it would be hard to go wrong with this kit!My daughter has never done

Very cute toy
My 10-year-old granddaughter and I have tried a couple of these Alex kits, and we always get such cute results! She is a big fan of stuffed toys, and it's all the more fun when she can create her own. That said, some of these kits are fairly hard to assemble, in terms of both design and materials. I enjoy the time we spend together and feel that she is learning some sewing skills that will stand her in good stead, but sometimes we both get so frustrated that it's hard to keep the end result in mind.In this case, the assembly of the toy was confusing. We were able to work it out but it took some doing, and I doubt that most younger children could figure it out alone. Many older children would not be particularly interested in having a giraffe toy as the outcome of their work, so judge your child's skill and interest levels carefully. The materials are good quality, and we have never had missing parts in any of this brand of kit (although I've often wished for little niceties such as needle threaders).

Very cute but quite complicated.
All the parts to this little plush elephant are already cut out and the thread, needle, stuffing and cut-out pieces (with the holes for sewing through cut out as well) are included. The instructions are pretty good, better than I've been seeing on products lately, but this is a fairly involved little piece. It shows to be for age 8 and older, but I think anyone under 12 is going to need help unless he or she is very familiar with sewing pieces together. It might be that older than 12 would need help. I don't think that this is a project you'd want to do in a very small amount of time with a group of kids unless you had plenty of experienced adult help. Still, it is really cute once you finish it.
