Complete Piano Transcriptions from Wagner's Operas (Dover Classical Piano Music)

in the sense that these are liszt/s transcriptions of wagner/s music (well, sorta), they can not be anything but, on the one hand, great, for wagner/s music, and, on the other, impossible to play by anyone but liszt. buying this to learn to play liszt/s transcriptions is, for *most* of us, a lesson in futility - no less funny than laughing while falling off the piano bench when looking at ives concord sonata. but that/s not quite why i bought it (altho i laugh everytime i set down at the keys). the theory was to do a bit of orchestration of liszts transcriptions thru my keyboard running thru my imac & garageband (w/the symphony package) and seeing if anything good turns out. can/t say anything yet. but this is a great book for working with on that. wish there was an equivalent cd !

Liszt’s piano transcriptions are always challenging and do a great job of capturing the different tones and instruments, but I really feel like he captured the spirit of these pieces from Wagner’s operas. Senta’s Ballad is one of my favorite operatic pieces and I think his transcription was genius.

Excellent print quality. Solid construction. I have Dover scores that are 30 years old and still going strong.

Iszt's orchestral piano transcriptions are pretty much without equal although there are notable exceptions particularly in the pediological realm.The book is well laid out and easy to read. However, with virtually all the larger Dover volumes there are issues with pages not wanting to stay put when being played.

A lot of favorites are missing from this collection

Wagner is every bit as great a composer as was Beethoven. He created a new sound, as opposed to just being the next stage of development in the romantic genre. I especially enjoy playing the "Liebestod" and the Tannhauser Overture.

Transcriptions of Wagner's music includes many melodies including themes from the Opera Rienzi. For advanced pianists.

This is the complete collection of Liszt's Wagner Transcriptions that I was looking for for a long time. Anything from Wagner that one does not find transcribed here, has not been transcribed by Liszt.

ワグナーの大ファンである人や、リストの編曲に興味ある人にとっては購入して自宅で譜面を読むのはよろしいでしょう。この楽譜でワグナーのオペラを自分でピアノで弾きたいと購入しても普通のピアノの腕の人には難しくて弾けないと思います。何しろ、難解なワグナーを超絶技巧のリストが編曲してるんですから。少なくともショパンのエテュードやソナタくらいは弾けないとこの譜面は自分で弾くにはほとんど役立たないと思います。ＣＤを聴きながら譜面を見て楽しむ人と、ピアノのセミプロ以上の人にはお勧めです。
