Earl DiamondSuper Heavy Duty 1/2" Drill Chuck with Chuck Key and MT2 Shank | Morse Taper Arbor #2 (B16)

Made well enough for a hobbyist machinist such as myself, especially for the cost.

Not sure what some are complaining about with regard to the drill bit size. The Earl Diamond Super Heavy Duty Drill Chuck 1/2" Capacity with MT2 Morse Taper 2 Arbor & K32 Key (B16) listed here that I bought, has no problem holding pretty much any drill bit up to 13mm. Just over 1/2". Chuck indicates 0.5mm ~ 13mm.1mm is .03937". A 0.5 mm drill bit (as listed on the side of the chuck) is 0.01968 inch. Who has a drill bit smaller than that? If you did, you probably wouldn't expect a 1/2" drill chuck to make watches Just saying.These jaws almost close tight. When you hold this chuck up to the light before putting it onto the mandrel, can barely see light thru it. Very accurate and very smooth. The only complaint I had, was that I used a micro file on the tips of the three jaws in order to get rid of a very minute finishing burr. This in no way effected the fit and function of the drill chuck or what size drill it accepted. Very well made. Tight and smooth. No regrets. Works perfect on my lathe tail stock. Good quality for the price.

Love it, only one problem. The end of the MT2 taper has a tang and not a drilled and tapped hole. Need the hole to allow the chuck to be used safely in my lathe headstock without a support in the tail stock. In fairness, the images show a tang and I should have noticed it before I bought the chuck.

I was surprised to get a finely finished, well made, sturdy chuck for this price. Excellent quality and great value. Thanks!

The stock chuck in my Porter Cable PCB660DP was never that great to begin with (runout) and over the years started clamping unevenly. I worked around it by unclamping/reclamping the bit and it was good enough for woodworking. Lately I've gotten into metal working and need a DP with mill-like accuracy. A relatively cheap, big-box store drill press isn't a mill and has a lot more driveline slop.Bought this chuck and arbor combo based on the reviews, to just replace the entire stock assembly and it was a good gamble. Arbor comes packed in it's own hard plastic sleeve and the chuck well-greased up in a plastic bag. Quality of both is very good. Surfaces are clean, smooth and free of tooling marks. The chuck is a little stiff to open/close, but it will loosen up with use.Overall, I think this is a great value.

Nicely made, but even though it is an MT2 Morse taper it's a little too long for the JET 1015vs mini lathe. Drill bit had a lot of wobble. Similar item that is half the price by wn works much better for my machine.

Great build quality for the price. Holds bits very well the jaws close very uniformly. No runout that can be seen, it performs wonderfully.
