RamRodz Barrel and Breech Cleaners (200-Pack), 9mm/.38/.357/.380-Caliber: Strong, does not shed lint. Hard to find firearm disposable pads which to not shed lint. These q tip like cleaners are disposable, and strong. They seem versatile. I like it that it is not metal, as less risk to scratch or damage fire arm and less risk to cut one's hand when cleaning deeply. Of course, use gun cleanse soap- made for guns. I looked up the company which makes these and through them, ordered more/different sizes for other sized fire-arms. I have a green colored plastic tube tool, which I am supposed to used with this swab. I have not tried it yet, but I think it is for longer barrels or rifle cleaning, to attach to the metal rod cleaner. Since I bought and opened two separate packages, one from Amazon and one from the maker, I forgot which bag the one green attachment came from. If you do not find it in the Amazon package, try ordering one from the maker, but read the fine print on the ad description to see if it reads if one comes with it- good for longer barrels which you need to attach to a rod. Patches and cloths still have their pale, for other parts- cleaning; But for cylinder, barrels and hard to reach spots, these heavy duty q tips are a great quality. I am hooked.

I'm one of those shooters who thoroughly cleans a gun after every firing. Thought I always did a good job at it. Recently put 120 rounds of ammo through my Glock 43. I had cleaned the barrel with multiple passes of a nylon bore brush loaded with Lucas Oil bore solvent, followed with three rather large "Southern Bloomer" patches, the last of which came out very clean. Just got my RamRodz bore cleaners and tested against my supposedly already clean Glock 43 barrel. Applied some solvent with a Q-Tip (no brush) down the barrel, followed with several plunges of a RamRodz. Darned if it wasn't picking up noticeable uncleaned carbon residue. Same thing happened with a recently cleaned Sig P938. These swabs are a very tight fit in my 9mm barrels. I'm a believer. Plus, the RamRodz are very effective cleaning the magazine well and other parts of the frame and slide. At less than 5 cents per swab in the 200-Pack, money well spent IMO.

After reading an article about these, I bought a package of RamRodz for a .38/9mm. They do a nice job. They fit snugly into the barrel of my 9mm semi-auto; the bamboo that cotton is wrapped onto is strong enough to easily push the cleaning rod through the barrel. In the photo here the top one is the RamRodz. The second item is the "Type-III 100pc Gun Cleaning 6 Inch American Made Cotton Swabs" sold here on Amazon. The third item is a normal Q-Tip, and on the bottom is a "Q-Tip Precision." As you can see, the RamRodz has a generous amount of cotton on it. I've used it for cleaning the chamber and barrel as well as inside the grip. I spray some CLP into the barrel. Then I put some CLP onto the swab and insert it into the chamber where I let it sit while I clean the rest of the gun. I run the first RamRodz through the barrel and follow it with two or three more (dry). If the barrel seems particularly dirty I'll run a brush and maybe another wet swab through, followed by a dry one. The bamboo rod is flexible and strong. The 6" swab, as you can see, has less cotton on it than a cotton Q-tip that you can get in the store. It's double-ended, and I'll use it to get into the tighter areas of the gun using it with CLP and dry. In the second photo you can see that it's about 2" shorter than the RamRodz. The wood rod that is used isn't as strong as the bamboo in the RamRodz but it's adequate for cleaning the connector bar, slide stop, and such. The "precision" Q-tip I'll use for tighter areas such as the grooves in the slide that attach it to the frame. Finally, I also use Otis patches if I've fired a lot of rounds. The RamRodz for the .38/9mm cost about 6 cents each on Amazon (at $13+ per 200) so when necessary I'll use both patches and the swabs. I think they're versatile, strong, and nicely packed with cotton. They do their job well. When used with smaller swabs plus patches I find I can do a decent job cleaning the accessible parts of my semi-auto. I think they're close to 5 stars, but I prefer a more conservative 4-star rating. As they say, your mileage and opinion may vary.
