For the most part, it gets the job done. However, the plastic piece that comes in contact with the cork often pops off as you push down on the arms. It can be put back on relatively easy, unless it gets stuck on the cork, which then requires more force. For the price, it's really not that bad. But you get what you pay for.7/21/2015 EDIT: Shortly after leaving this review, I was contacted by De Rigueur. They apologized that I'd had an issue with the product, and said they had fixed the issue, and would send me a new one free of charge. Today, I received the corkscrew, and it seems to be working great. This seems to be a great company, and they care about customer experience. It's tough to find that nowadays, but because of it I'll be sure to buy from them again.

Worked flawlessly at first, opening about four bottles of wine. On the fifth bottle, the plastic ring inside the metal part that fits around the top neck of the bottle came out and was stuck firmly to the bottle. We've had to continually pry it off the neck of every bottle we opened after that, and then try to re-insert the plastic ring back into its holder without getting speared by corkscrew. The foil cutter broke after six months. We've not been able to use the opener for months because of these issues. Our cheap $4.00 grocery store opener works better than this thing. On the upside, packaging and shipping was great - just wish the opener had been reliable.

Pretty nice opener.Basically an average piece with a fancy case.I little overpriced in my opinion.

Works very well. Feels sturdy, but loose enough that it's easy to use. Handles are comfortable and don't hurt hands like cheaper openers. The bottle topper keeps a good seal with the two rubber rings for different size bottles. Foil cutter is sharp and easy to use.

The foil cutter broke on the 2nd use--completely fell apart in my hand! The wine opener itself isn't great either because it doesn't seem to grip into most corks the right way. I've used many others that work better. Not impressed.

What wine aficionado hasn't tried MANY corkscrews and other gadgets guaranteed to remove the cork easily and properly. I like this one a lotI Of the two “screw” type cork pullers, I prefer this design with the strait center shaft and the spiraling fin vs. the spiral wire type. The De Rigueur is easy to center and get started. I expect to get a lifetime of use out of this corkscrew! Other benefits: no gas cartridges to go empty (and the associated cost and waste), no plastic "bits" to break; no flimsy spirals to bend and render the gadget useless. The guarantee is nice and the price is right! Oh, and the foil cutter works like a charm as well. Get one!!!

I wanted a quality opener and reviewed many devices here on Amazon before purchasing. I was optimistic and that was reinforced when I received an email from the company thanking me for my purchase prior to arrival! In usual Amazon Prime fashion, it arrived timely. I was a bit disappointed at the feel of the device as I expected for the price and description, it would feel more substantial. I used it once and thought, "meh". Not great or bad. Still felt as flimsy as a grocery store version I bought on a trip to use in a a hotel room. Second bottle resulted in the plastic "cap"/bottle top cup/interface coming off as the cork was pulled from bottle. It required a lot of work to remove it. Very disappointed.To the company's credit, they personally replied to my email about what happened and offered to send me a new one in a few weeks in which they have made a change to secure the plastic piece better. Flimsy, plastic. I really don't like paying full price to test. No thank you. But keep up the responsive customer service, De Riguer!

I love this. However, after few months of using, the black thing at the bottom of the cork remover few off.
