So are these durable or not? Some say they are and some say they are not. The people need clarity.

I travel fairly often and use to tour with these and used then when I recorded on the spot use to throw them everywhere even hit the ground a couple times when I missed they last pretty well so far I haven't had any issue I think I've had them for about a year now all in all they last I even have them swiveling often just be careful because if you get careless with them you might snap the hindges when you swivel them but other than that these are great

How well do these block out outside sounds and how do they sound with genres like rock and metal?

It completely blocks outside sounds. Its a bit unsettling how effective it is but you will get used to it. And as far as rock and metal these head phones I think were meant for this genre of music. Just be careful when putting on and taking off the headphones because the top part of the headphones is plastic and if stretched too far it can snap. Other than that I recommend u get these.

Is this certified original?

Very good quality sound. Best headphones on the market
