Redmon Rene Bidaud Instructional DVD and Jump Rope Set

I purchased this for myself (I'm age 50) as a workout DVD because I remember how much fun jump-roping was as a kid, and I was currently bored with treadmills or other workout DVD's. I really enjoy this DVD and trying out the various techniques and just having fun with it. A few cautions to keep in mind, though:1. If you plan to use it to jump rope with, be sure there is enough space in the area with a TV/DVD player where you plan to use it (so that you don't swing the rope and knock something over).2. This is not actually a workout DVD with a routine that you jump-rope to; it is a training DVD to show children some fun jump-roping techniques that they can have fun with. And, definitely, they are fun!The main reasons I give it a 5 are that:1. The DVD has actual children demonstrating the techniques and step-by-step instructions so you can practice as you watch. They progress from simple to challenging. It is refreshing to have something inexpensive that children can spend their time working up to mastering (unlike other expensive electronic simulations of the real thing). It's nice to see children actually doing real playing. After mastering the skills with the DVD, they can go outside and show the same techniques to other children.2. The children demonstrating are not all super thin, so it helps every child see that they can be successful no matter what shape or size they are.3. The techniques are varied, so that children can jump-rope alone or with several friends (and they range in age from young to teens). The techniques are AMAZING! I had never known there were so many different ways to jump rope! I also plan to keep it for when grandchildren begin coming into my life. I want my grandchildren to experience the fun of real playing.

The DVD came out of the box with those white steaks. It would not play and I tried to clean it with a micro-fibre cloth and those streaks remained. This is unacceptable and It would not even be worth the shipping costs to return it.

I purchased this DVD to give my kids (boys ages 6 & 10; girl age 8) an additional summer activity to do outside at home, camping, and to take with them when we go on vacation. I also purchased one each of 6 ft, 7 ft, and 8 ft beaded ropes and two 16 ft ropes for up to double-dutch. All 3 kids are having a blast learning to jump rope and all the different ways and tricks (and some little challenges between them!) They watch the different moves on the video and then go out and try them. I've also helped them with spinning the longer rope and learning to "jump in." A very inexpensive activity and one that gets them moving! DVD is very realistic and great at explaining the different moves. Intended audience is kids, but easily can be used by adults! I'd highly recommend for ages 5-6 and up.

The jump rope is just ok, since this is the kids' first jump rope. The DVD video content looks kinda old, but it is very informative. My kids love it.
