Polished cast iron wok reduces food particle build up and facilitates easy clean up. The smooth surface also reduces the grinding/scratching sensation when cooking with metal utensils. Carbon-nitride heat treatment provide a natural non-stick surface and helps to prevent rust inside and out. Just follow standard cast iron cleaning and storage directions to keep your wok looking new. Wood handle is properly positioned for a balanced control of wok, and can be easily removed for cleaning or if re-seasoning of the wok in an oven is necessary. I was really, really skeptical...NOW I'M SOLD!
I like to cook Chinese food and ages ago Cook's Illustrated said it could be done in a nonstick skillet. Well...I've become increasingly dissatisfied with that. I really didn't want a carbon wok because of the maintenance (I tend to be of the "let it soak overnight" philosophy with my pots and pans). I decided to take a chance on the light cast iron wok as a reasonable compromise. I watched a number of videos on how to properly season the pan, but found the two most helpful ones to be on the Asian Garden to Table website and on the website for the wok shop website. In the end I used some of the tips from both videos. I seasoned it in the oven per the Wok Shop Video, wrapping the wooden helper handle in a damp cloth and foil as the video suggested. I also bought several bunched of scallions and used several coins of ginger to season it twice, the way both videos demonstrated. Then I cooked. I was a little disappointed with some noodles sticking, but I used a scrubby and hot water to clean it, dried it with a paper towel and over low heat on the stove. Then I rubbed a teaspoon of oil on it and wiped off the excess. Tonight I made pork fried rice. I was stunned! I had a 2 square inch patch high on wide where there was some sticking -- other than that, even scrambling the egg, it was totally nonstick! I even got some nice browned rice on the bottom and it didn't stick either. Once again I used hot water and a scrubby to clean it, dried and oiled it. I'm happily very, very impressed with this product.

Meets all expectations
This light weight cast iron wok heats evenly and does a good job of maintaining temp as ingredients are added. My only wish is that it was larger.

Highly recommended!
It is the best wok I ever bought. Very smooth and non-stick. I used a stainless steel spatula never worried about that will have something can come off, because it has NO non-coating inside or outside! Just natural steel. Feel amazing for such a good workmanship!
