I am so glad I have this
I slip this on only part way when I'm cooking in my skillet, then, using the smaller, wide handle holder on the opposite side of the skillet, I brace the skillet and slide this long handle all the way on. WoW! Makes moving my skillet so much easier and safer. I do not leave the handles fully on during cooking, as they will get too hot to maneuver the skillet. That said, using both this and the short side version of the same handle, keeping a safe hold onto your skillet will be a breeze. Before I rec'd both these handles (ordered both the long and short at the same time), I nearly broke my arm (and my back) trying to use a potholder glove and potholder to grip a full of food, raging hot, very heavy pan. I am so glad I have this...what a difference. Highly recommend! As a side note...I would suggest getting both handles. It is well worth it!

Helps with my hot, heavy pans.
This product works well... However, I expected too much from it. My cast iron pans are heavy and get very hot. The holder tends to twist a bit. But if it fit tighter, I think I could not put it over a hot handle easily enough to protect my hand. I just have to become more skilled at handling my heavy cast iron pans, I think. This handle holder sure beats trying to manage with a towel and/or a pot holder.

works fine
Initially i was going to send this back because it was too big and too loose for my cast iron pan but i put it on my cast iron skillet and it fit perfectly, like it was made for that so im happy now with my purchase.

it may be a pain in the butt to take the handle off but otherwise I like it.
Fits very hard on a regular-sized (not small) cast iron pan. Not sure if I can leave it on if I wanted to cook something in the cast iron pan in the oven; if not, it may be a pain in the butt to take the handle off but otherwise I like it.

I had another brand that worked better in keeping the heat at bay
I had another brand that worked better in keeping the heat at bay. This one heats up on my teapot handle much more than the Duncan Kitchen Grips brand. So the holder gets too hot to touch - the opposite of what it's supposed to do. Also because of the narrowing shape and the silicone material it does not slip on and off easily from handles. For those reasons, I would not buy again.

So far, so good!
So far so good. We have only had it a week or two, but this handle cover seems more secure than most silicone grips. The handle is not wobbly inside, so I feel comfortable shaking and pouring from our 10" cast iron skillet. We have used the cloth "fireproof" handle covers in the past and the coverings have all burned, exposing the batting inside. We leave the cover on the handle at all times, so we will see how long it lasts.

Hot Handle is named right
I was surprised at the amount of heat I was able to feel through the handle holder. I still had to use a fabric pot holder to keep from getting burned. I've used other types of silicone pot holders before, but this allowed for far more heat transmission.

Use a Cast Iron Pan? Now you can easily protect your hands from a handle burn...
My wife made one from cloth but this is even better as it doesn't compress as much as the cloth. The silicon gives a firm grip to a heavy cast iron pan. Works well to protect your hands. A quick wash now and then keeps the texture nice and grippy.
