Fourth Dawn (A. D. Chronicles, Book 4)

I have just finished the fourth book of the A.D. Chronicles and can't wait to get into the fifth book. I always have questions when reading the Holy Bible. What were the people like that Jesus was talking to? Who was the blind beggar who was healed by Jesus, who loved him, what was it like to look on the face of the Healer? What was the interaction between Mary and Joseph before and after the angelic visitations. What was it like for their families? I love that the Word is fleshed out in story form, giving multi-faceted personality to the almost one dimensional characters in Scripture. Stores are created for situations and events only eluded to. The novels help me better understand the historical context of the events, people and teachings found in Scripture. I am in awe of the research, authenticity and integrity required for the books that Brock and Bodie Thoene write. I have them all and have read their earlier series more than once. Truly a God-given talent.

Another well-written Christian historical story by the Thoenes! I love the characters, the use of a flashback to the struggles for Mary & Joseph before their wedding, then they understand the message from God via the angels. They are greatly honored to play the parental roles of protection as God Himself comes to earth to save us all.

Bodie and Brock Thoene are the best writers of Christian fiction. They include history, biblical scripture and study helps for either an individual or group sessions. The A.D.Chronicles is my first experience with these authors and I plan to read all 12 books and also their other works. It certainly is realistic work and one could imagine that our history happened just the way the authors suggest. Once I start reading, I hate to put the book down until I finish it - it's that good!

I choose this rating because like all other Thoene books there is so much that I have learned. I enjoy everything about their books, writing style that helps us fully enjoy each character. I love reading the Bible, but also love how Thoene’s pull out information I would never have dreamed of.

I found this book, as with the whole series, to be a highly descriptive depiction of life in Jesus time. You get caught up in the swirling of the crowds and motives of the people, all truly likely scenarios for the time. We often forget the impact of Israel, yet again, being a conquered people, and the fear and desperation they, like conquered people's before and since, were living under.It is a great way to start to get a grip on the myriad of challenges against Jesus message, and to begin to imagine why people reacted in the way they did. Why did the blind man's parents deny him? What was it that made Mary the optimum choice to be the mother of Jesus? How did Joseph reconcile his love for Mary and the small village mentality? These are great stories, within the wonder of a truly awesome story.

More than the story of Mary and Joseph, the Forth Dawn shares the historical setting of the times when Jesus was born, how the people lived and feared the Herodian authority, the corruption in gov., the hope of the people that the prophecy about the coming messiah was immanent, and the reality of God's plan in our everyday lives. Loved the presentation of the messages from the angels and the absolute proof of God's touch; a reminder of how the Lord talks to us and has our interest.

The AD chronicles are well worth reading for any and all who love the Lord Jesus and want to serve and please Him. I have enjoyed this series and plan to read the rest of it. Fourth Dawn was compelling and holds your interest to the point of not wanting to stop reading. I am anxiously awaiting my friend to loan me her copy of the Fifth in the series as we do discuss each one after completion.

What an anointed book series! I recommend the entire 12 book series to anyone who has a heart for Jesus Christ, the history of the God of the Jews, Jerusalem when Christ walked the earth, and superb storytelling. Absolute page turners, every single one of them. A great, big 'thank you!' to the authors for bringing these amazing books into existence.

Took me back to Holy Land, were I’d been on a pilgrimage, and helped me see how it was for Jesus. And His disciples.
