This is my favorite off-the-shelf gun oil. The fact that it cleans and protects makes it the perfect oil to keep in the range bag or kit.

This works really good, very similar to what I used in the military. Worked great and held up in my pistols, rifles, ect. Cleaned, lubricated, and protected everything.

I use this with my pistols and long guns. I use a pistol at my home to protect myself and family from harm and even possible death from criminals breaking down my door or windows. Protection for my family is extremely important and reliability of my handgun to protect my family is absolute must work if needed. BreakFree clp is a military spec product that works. For a firearm to be 100% functional, you need something that will clean and lubricate moving parts and not gum up and will protect from rust. Few known substances in the entire world can do all of that effectively. Break free clp does just that. It's the only gun oil product I use. In other words I'm depending on my firearms to work flawlessly when they have too. Break Free CLP helps that to happen. I highly recommend this product, as I have been using it since the late 70's when it was made available for the public. It works, and my firearms don't rust in storage either. I live in Southeast Texas and humidity is always in abundance in the air here. Break Free is the only product that gives my firearms total protection from rust. There are other products out there that claim to protect, and they do, but they also evaporate fairly quickly and they do have problems with gumming up and will also allow rust to form on your firearm. What can I say about CLP it's been around long enough that most people have already formed their opinion of it and either use it or don't. I seen all the reviews and I had to give it a try. The way that I use it is, I apply it to a small cloth and brush then wipe all the parts as I am taking my gun apart, including the frame itself. By the time I start to actually clean my gun everything just wipes right off. Don't get me wrong it takes few wipes to get all the black off but I don't have to scrub or do anything dramatic when cleaning. It works well, the longer it sits the easy everything seems to come off. I have not tested on tougher gunk, as I do clean my gun regularly so nothing gets really caked in. The smell is almost not noticeable to me. I clean my gun sitting at my kitchen table and no one in the house has said a word about the smell. I still oil my gun after it's cleaned as I only use the CLP as a cleaner. Although with the sheen left from the cleaning I could probably get away without it but I usually wipe all that off to make sure only the parts I want oiled have oil on them. I do recommend and I will buy again, even though I would like to continue to try new products, i see no reason to buy something else at this time. The bottle will last a long time as it only takes a couple drops on my cloth and I sometimes put a couple on my brush before I start. If your new to gun cleaning then take my advice and start with CLP, it does the job. I went through a lot of reviews on various sites before trying it and I have not been disappointed.
