Prevue Hendryx Cage Corner Shelf, Black, 3100B

This product is very sturdy and is the exact material and finish of my Prevue Hendryx Flight Cage. It is a very large shelf that will make the perfect mid-way level in the cage so my cockatiel can get more use out of his spacious cage. But the problem is, I bought this used to save a few few bucks and it came with zero mounting hardware. No bolts, no wing nuts, and no washer tabs. So now, I’ve got to visit the local hardware store and hopefully get those items in plain stainless steel, which is hard to find without nickel, anodizing or zinc. So, the money saved by buying used will again be lost by having to buy my own hardware. Lesson learned.At least the item arrived promptly. Prevue bird cage products are high quality. This deserves five stars, but the seller does not.

Loved the shelve. My sweet squirrel eats everything so this is perfect. I really need at least two more but the price just went up.

I would have given this shelf five stars, but there are two minor problems with it. The first one is that the outside curved edge of it is too wide for the bird to hang from it and flip over to the underside (I do have a small bird, a conure, and it might work better for a bigger bird, but I still think the edge should be a little smaller).The second problem is how it fastens. In the picture, the bars on the cage on either side go up and down. On many cages, mine included, the bars go up and down on one side but side to side on the other. So when I go to fasten the shelf with the nuts and the metal plate, they have to go sideways on the one side and up and down on the other, opposite the way the bars go. When I do this, the side that goes up and down puts the bar immediately over the hole for fastening the metal support bar, so to fit on the cage, it's missing one of the fasteners. Not all cages will have this problem, but mine does. Even with this, it fits very securely, no wobbly, nothing. It's also a perfect match in color and design to the cage, so it almost looks like it came with it.I will likely buy a second one to put at the bottom of the cage, to make another shelf nesting area. Sturdy, well-constructed, great addition to a larger bird cage, and doesn't take up a huge amount of room that would hinder movement, but plenty of room to sit on and play. I recommend it.

This did not fit into the cage I meant to put it in (18" x 18") so I had to put it in a larger cage (2" x 3"). The larger cage is from Prevue and it fits like a glove.I don't really like the hardware that attaches the shelf to the cage. The hardware is like a wingnut attached to a bolt, except you screw the wingnut-bolt from the outside in. So I've got 1.5 inches of metal (and 4 of them!) pointing inwards. They are not sharp but I have a parrot that can climb upside down, and he makes it a point to go and lick the metal bolts. I really hope they are stainless steel...

I bought this knowing that it was going to be on the larger side for bigger parrots but I was not expecting it to be so massive! Fortunately it was easy to restructure the cage layout around it. My amazon looks so tiny on it!The shelf is very sturdy and was fairly easy to install (it didn't come with instructions though, but it was clear that the metal strips were sort of like washers and they were there to prevent the screws from going through the bars of the cage), and didn't seem to leave any sharp edges or spots for his toes to get caught. My amazon has been very confused as to why he has a shelf, but hopefully it will help provide a flat surface for him to stand on when he's in his cage.Edit: It's been a few months now, and it's his FAVORITE spot in the cage now. He prefers to sleep on it over his perches, and I'll often catch him dragging his toys over to play with them on there.

I have an old parrot who had begun to fall occasionally. She had a malignant tumor removed from her preen gland which meant her tail was changed somewhat and I think this is why she started losing her balance. But this corner perch has helped a great deal. She still has several other perches to choose from, but this is where she sleeps and eats when she needs to hold food in one foot.

I use it for a 10" diameter terra cotta flower pot dish, which is my Senegal's "swimming pool". The terra cotta dish is perfect, as it is the perfect depth, it is too heavy for my parrot to lift and dump, evaporation from the sides of the dish keeps the water fresh and cool, and the rough surface is easy for bird feet to grip.INSTALLATIONThe holes in the sides of the shelf itself are threaded, so you mount a "strip washer" on a winged machine screw (provided), push it through the bars, and screw it into the side of the shelf.SHORTCOMINGThe only significant shortcoming is that the leading edge of the shelf is very narrow---there's really no place for birdy feet to grip. I bought this for my new cockatiel cage. I have one tiel that has a bad leg and wanted her to be able to rest on this shelf. It was hard to install though. The tip of the corner has an indent in it for cages that have one bar in the corner of the cage, not two like the one I bought. So it was not up against the back and the side panels of the cage. We had to put wood between this and the side of the cage to be able to screw it in place. Otherwise it would have pulled the sides in and warped the cage.

Purchased after buying the Preview medium bird cage after reading many positive reviews.My cocktail speaks most her time on this shelf as it lends more support and less fatigue. Being ground feeders in their homeland, I think these birds appreciate the alternative switch up from traditional round roosts. I find she also prefers to sleep on the shelf over roosting. She has other options in her cage that she also likes including; flattened concrete perches and a nice swing. Sometimes for entertainment she will sit on her shelf and reach out and push her swing with her beak and watch the swing go back and forth. I think she also finds this comforting as sometimes she will beak chatter when doing this and fall asleep.

Looks like it was a match and made for the cage we had, i ended up buying a second one it was perfect for my situation, it is rather large.

Not strong enough to stand up to a Hyacinth macaw. Within 10 minutes, she had crunched the outer metal bars together, making it too dangerous to continue using (would have caught her toes in it). Disappointing.

It arrived but missing the hardware that goes with it to fastened it onto the cage. I had to go into the workshop and find four washers four bolts with four wing nuts. I give a one star rating for this reason
