While the person currently using the chair is only about 150lbs, we have no regrets buying a bariatric chair for the heavier construction.PROS - 1) The push bar that fits between the handles is great. Since this chair is wider than most, it lets your arms stay in a more natural position in front of you. It also provides a better grip that just the handles. 2) The chair is MUCH more stable on uneven or sloping ground like driveways than the drug store variety chair we had been using. 3) The handles fold for transport which makes it much easier to get in the back seat of a car or other confined space. When the handles are folded, the brakes lock for added safety (pretty cool design!). 4) The "parking brakes" work like a full wheelchair (manual handles on the wheels) which provides a more secure wheel lock than hand brake based locks.CONS (all minor) - 1) The only minor functional downside we have seen is that there is no way to lock the foot rests back when not in use (i.e. for travel). We have found that we have to take them off when we fold the chair but they are very easy to remove/replace. 2) Since this chair built for very heavy people, it is considerably heavier than light weight chairs but this is more than compensated for in sturdiness and stability 3) Since it is wider than non-bariatric chairs it is a bit snug going through some doorways but, so far, we have not found one we could not get it through.

Sturdy, high quality chair, easy to handle. I traveled with my mother to Las Vegas and was very glad to have this chair. The crossbar is great for easier handling and seems to add some stability to the chair. The chair just seemed to glide well. It folds easy and is relatively light considering it is a heavy-duty chair that can hold a heavier person. It is a bit wide - great for the rider (comfortable, wide seat, padded armrests), but it does take up some space. It fit fine folded in my SUV, the limo SUV, and the airport parking shuttle van, and I checked it at the airline gate with no problems, but I did not test it in a car trunk. Unfolded it fit through all the doorways in my home, hotel, and elevators easily. Very happy with purchase.

Used for 6'2" male, 270 lbs, some walking ok. Used for travel. Pros: Comfortable. Lightweight, very durable, sturdy. A solid chair that can withstand numerous plane, train, subway, bus, and cab rides. For cabs, the foot rests can be removed in seconds and back folded down just as quickly. Chair can be placed flat in sedans or at an angle in the front or back seat if needed. Hand brakes work perfectly. As an added plus, the two pockets behind the backrest came in very handy. Cons: Width promotes comfort, but results in a tight squeeze in some doorways and elevators. As some have indicated, position of footrests results in legs parted slightly which could be awkward for women, but comfortable for men. The screw on push bar was not used, as removing it takes 2-3 minutes so we did not use while in transit. What I do not know is how much of an impact the smaller wheels (vs "traditional" larger wheels) have in effectively pushing uphill. Despite the Cons, I am very pleased with this product and would recommend especially for men, a larger body type, and for folks who are able to walk a bit to access narrow passage ways.

I bought this wheelchair because I had seen the lighter duty standard one by Drive but read a review that said the front wheels had problems from cobblestones. This model, in addition to being heavier duty (and, yes, a bit heavier to carry but still relatively light) has front wheels that are wider and more hefty and did well on cobblestones on a European trip. The width is a disadvantage if not needed, but only a few doors were difficult to negotiate. The horizontal bar between the handles both make pushing easier, and makes it stiffer and more stable. One shortcoming is that the bar must be removed (on one end...by loosening the hand screw) to fold and there isn't an obvious method to hold it when folded. I bungy corded it along with the folded chair to hold it together while on an airline. Highly recommend this transport chair.

The product itself is amazing and exactly what I was looking for. I bought it for a friend who has a lot of health conditions and needs a transport wheelchair that can support a certain amount of weight but can also be used outside on different terrains. The issues are with the company that I bought it from through the third party seller through Amazon. I bought it almost a month ago and the issues are still ongoing. The product I would recommend to anyone however I would recommend never going through the third party seller ever.

Chair is very hard to push. Gets stuck in small crevices and cracks in cement. Gets hung up going in doorways with any type of trim on the floor. Beautiful chair and comfortable to sit in but requires someone strong enough to be able to let the wheels out of seams or cracks in pavement or floors.

This wheelchair is perfect for my husband! The seat is wide enough to be comfortable for him. The chair is light enough for me to manage getting it in and out of the car. The bar across the handles is optional to use.

This is everything you need if your bigger and need this. Very comfortable, easy to fold up, easy to push. Great wheelchair

With my mother loosing much of her autonomy, we were looking for a comfortable chair from which she could get up easily, the chair having a higher seat. A chair wide enough to sit comfortably while wearing winter coat and waiting long period of time at hospital. This chair met all of our requirements. NOTE NB This product cannot be returned! It is over $500CAD not worth the money folk. Stitching already pulling loose on the straps to pull chair together for storage/transporting after ONE use. Seat extremely unforgiving had to put sheep skin on top for comfort. Will also not go thru residential doorways. Heavy for putting into trunk of car. If seniors DO NOT PURCHASE. Not suitable at all as a transport chair. Read my general comments on pieces I have returned - I don’t post negative unless it is totally warranted. This transport chair is a huge red flag. Female used once.
