This device does not tie an FG knot as implied. It does help tie what is essentially a bobbin knot - which is a tight spiral wrap over a loose spiral wrap - but in this case the tight outer wrap cannot be made nearly as tight as using an actual bobbin. It does facilitate spinning braid over mono, and with practice can make a very acceptable and strong knot. The device setup is tricky, and has a tendency to catch the line inside one of the upper clasps - with no way to work it back out without pulling it through. If you're half way through or have just finished tying a knot, this means that you will likely have to cut the line and start over. Also, it feels somewhat flimsy, and does not seem like it will stand up to much use. I like the concept, but think this could be much improved. For the price, I don't really think it is worth it.

Look for online videos for instructions unless you read Chinese. Took a few tries to get it right but I am pleased with my F-G knots! Nice little tool. I treat it gently though as it doesn’t look like it is very heavy duty. I would not take it out on a boat .

After an hour or so of trials, I am now tying FG knots with ease. So far I've tied 65 lb braid to 40lb fluorocarbon leader and also 15lb braid to 15lb fluorocarbon leader. It's a great tool.

Makes fg knots easy. I was a bit skeptical but it works well.
