Worked good and cute too

I got this as a gift for my mom, since she likes anything that makes kitchen work easier as she gets older. It works well, separating the yolk and white relatively quickly and without leaving any white around the yolk. It also probably works better than most other egg separator tools, but I don't think any product can really beat the efficiency of the old trick of passing the yolk back and forth between the two shell halves.

For nearly $10 I expected more. This is literally a flower shaped hunk of white plastic. The glass receptacle shown in the video is not part of the product. The yellow center shown on the packaging is a cardboard cut out that has to be discarded before use. The separator did function. It is dishwasher safe. It is not giftable, nor is it a fun addition to the kitchen.

This kitchen tool is overpriced for a cheap bit of molded plastic. The cup in the centre is too small for a standard large egg. Plus, it is made out of such light plastic that picking it up can be precarious. That's how one of my eggs "escaped" onto the floor. The photo is a bit misleading. Unless the egg is older, with a flowy white, you will have to pick up the separator, and shake and swirl. Or you could, of course, wait and wait for gravity to do its job.
