Astro Pneumatic Tool 78835 Exhaust Pipe Stretcher Kit, Metallic

I've broken a few pipe expanders but this one is built very tough. I belled out a 4" tailpipe to fit my 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 CTD. It worked like a charm. Get the 28mm deep impact socket. The deep socket will help when you have to insert the expander deeper to get a solid 4-5 inches of bell on the pipe. I used a DeWalt impact driver and it worked like a boss.

Product as described, typical OTC appear well manufactured and well packaged. The instruction could be a bit better and detailed operation/assembly is a learning process a few tips assembly instruction might help. Price was OK until it went on-sale while mine were already in-transit costing me about 20% more!

Definitely worth the money! If you can put the pipe in a vice or strap it down that's best but you don't need to. A good air gun or electric impact is the only way to go. This set took everything my 1/2" IR ti could throw at it with 175psi feeding it!

So I needed this for a custom dual exhaust. I had to expand four T304 3" diameter stainless steel pipes and two2 3/4" aluminized steel pipes.This pipe expander worked great for me!A few things to keep in mind when using this: Make sure to use the grease that is included (or any type of wheel bearing grease) liberally on the threads, on the bearing race and on the expander sleeves.Take it slow and frequently rotate the expander sleeve so the pipe continues to stay round.And finally you are going to need a high torque impact gun.I used my cordless DeWalt 1/2" drive impact gun and I had to charge my battery twice during the completion of my project. I also had to purchase a 28mm high impact drive socket.By keeping this pipe expander liberally lubricated it should last a while.

I bought this because I figured either pay a shop to do this work or buy a tool and do it myself for the same price and be able to do other jobs in the future. I was not disappointed. This tool allowed me to fix my own exhaust in the amount of time I would have spent in the muffler shop waiting room.

I bought it in November 2022 and opened it in March 2023 and both the o-rings on the big stainless steel collet were broken. Choose a better manufacturer of o-rings.

I picked up this set, because the Lisle version just cost too much - about twice as much!Astro has always delivered great tools for the money, and this is no exception.Great warranty!

Used this on 3inch ss magnaflow exhaust. Worked well. Be patient and use the grease. Remember this also will need a strong impact or pneumatic gun.

I use this quite frequently. Remember to rotate and re apply or you will nor get a round spread

This kit makes exhaust junctions much easier ! Either to do installs with U-bolts or band-clamps. I've used it on 3 different cars in the last 3 weeks and I'm very satisfied !!Took 1 star off because rubber O-rings seem to be low quality : upon receiving the kit, there was already 3 broken O-rings when I opened the box. I broke 1 on the very first use. But other than that, I'm really pleased with this kit !

I used these tube expender lately and they are just excellent. Used it on Stainless steel exhaust pipe manually and with an impact tool. They did the job perfectly. I recommend this product.
