A Baseball Book that Brings the Game Alive
In Baseball World Series by Matt Christopher, the main characters are named Liam and Carter. They are cousins that live in Pennsylvania together, but Liam’s family moves to California. When they both lived in Pennsylvania, they played baseball together. They had an enemy named Phillip DiMaggio. He played a mean trick on Carter in baseball camp. When Liam moves to California, he is surprised that he ends up in Phillip’s home town! And Liam is even more surprised when he ends up on the same team as Phillip! Their team works hard and they make it to the championship game where Liam faces Carter’s team . . .The conflict is that Liam has to face Carter in the Little League World Series!I really like this book. The author does a good job explaining plays in the game. For example, when the author shows how Liam’s team makes a double play, he makes it easy for me to picture the players’ movements. Also, I got very attached to the players because they remind me of people I know. I would highly recommend reading this book. One thing to know is that the first book is actually supposed to be read last. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did! (by my 4th grade son)

Great Series!
Our 8/9 year old began reading this series near the end of 2nd grade. Since then, he's read quickly through the books and has consistently been eager to get his hands on the next one. The content is appropriate for children his age. We have had good discussions about the author's use of details and sentence styles, hopeful that helping him pay attention to these features will begin to influence his own writing more and more. He has recommended several Matt Christopher titles to his friends, and several parents have commented that they are happy to see their boys showing more interest in reading.

Great series for upper elementary students who love baseball and they are well written!
Not only are they well written, this series is free of the junky stuff in many late elementary novels. My child read and reread from 9-11 years old and wishes there were more books in this series. A story about friendship, family, baseball, and everyday life for the 12 year old characters. Well done!

Great series of books!
My 11 year old son is sports obsessed. It is easiest to get him to read sports related books. He has read the whole series of these and loves them all. After finishing the last one he said they need to write more of them. :)

Great Book
I sincerely believe that Matt Christopher hit this book out of the park. Great word choice and excellent use of figurative language. You always want Liam and Carter to succeed even when they have to play against each other in the Little League World Series! I have read all 5 books in this series and I would give each of them a perfect 5 star rating.
