Conscious Leadership will change how you do business and how you lead your life
There are so many things I love about the 15 Commitments of Conscious Leadership. Since finding the book in February 2017, I have read it multiple times, and have been working to integrate the commitments into my practice as a coach and into my life on this planet. I notice my work with clients going deeper and having wider impact, and improvements in all of my relationships.*Accessibility*Every idea presented in this book is done in a manner that is easy to understand and easy to apply. Part I offers a simple model – a line that one can find oneself either above or below – that alone offers the potential for deep and lasting insight. The practice of locating oneself either above or below the line enables broader thinking and creates room to explore and potentially shift one’s mindset.*A well-curated, well-organized gallery of ideas and principles*The authors unabashedly draw on concepts and practices from the work of others (Hendricks Institute, Sedona Method, Byron Katie, Immunity to Change to name a few) to augment and support their own ideas.*Not just for leaders, and not just for business*Leaders absolutely benefit from the 15 Commitments. I have introduced it to clients in a variety of leadership roles, in a variety of organizations (tech, education, media). I also apply it to my own life and have found practices that have substantively improved my relationship with my stepchildren, and my communication with my husband, and other family members.*Exercises and resources*At then end of each chapter on the individual commitments there is a section, Practicing the Commitment, that offers ideas and exercises for building the commitment for yourself or in your organization. The authors also offer tools and videos at the Conscious Leadership Group website, Conscious.Is.***Update November 2018***My hard copy of The 15 Commitments of Conscious Leadership is well worn, marked up and tabbed. It has become my gift of choice for leaders of all kinds and I find myself referring to it regularly as a resource guide for exploring the different challenges my client (and I face). In the Audible version, Jim Dethmer's voice provides a warm invitation to dig in and explore.

Single most transformative framework for personal growth that I've encountered
This book serves as a high-level overview of the frameworks and tools, written in a highly-accessible way, but is just a taste of how CLG can transform your life and work. CLG, like any set of robust tools for personal development, requires deep practice and dedication. I personally have never found a more powerful set of tools and frameworks than these. I use them in my marriage, in my company, and in my relationships with family and friends. As a result, my life has completely transformed in truly incredible ways.I've read some reviews that have criticized CLG as promoting "selfishness / self-centered thinking and living" I personally have not struggled to do deep personal and inter-personal work using these tools while also engaging with empathy, care, and generosity. In fact, I've consistently found that practicing CLG has brought me deeper, more honest connection with the people around me because I'm able to approach situations from a place of true openness vs reactivity / threat. At the end of the day, CLG is a set of powerful tools and it is up to the practitioner about how they use them in their own life (this is true of many things, including technology and religions). For that reason, I would highly recommend only practicing deeply with someone who is co-committed to CLG. There are certain aspects of the tools you can use generally with folks who are not co-committed, like Integrity, Play, and Zone of Genius. Save the rest for folks who aren't afraid to get messy with you!

Leadership of the Future: Practical, Easy to Read, Relatable.
This book has been a game changer for leaders I’ve worked with. Awareness of self without self-righteousness. A culture that allows each employee to reach their maximum potential while increasing productivity, employee engagement, and pleasure; I have found this true when this book is read and acted on.It’s practical. It’s easy to read. It’s relatable. It’s full of valuable resources, techniques, and tools with some research and many stories to support them. The book starts with a story of two successful leaders and what a good day looks like. One leader is conscious, and one is not. The conscious leader always strives to be above the line, using the 15 commitments as a guide. Being above the line is a leader who is open, committed to learning, and curious. Each of the 15 commitments examines leaders above and below the line. For example, commitment four is speaking candidly. Above-the-line leadership commits to saying what is true to me and being someone to whom others can express themselves with candor. Below-the-line leadership for commitment four is withholding my truth and speaking in a way that allows me to try to manipulate an outcome and not listen to others. My copy of this book is well-used with bookmarks, turned-down pages, and underlined passages. I’ve been using this book for a few years with clients and can’t say enough great things about it. It builds on some of what you may already know and quickly introduces new concepts and how to use them.
