Fun project & great gift
The media could not be loaded. I received the knife making kit as a gift, which first off I thought was very cool & different. Upon opening the kit i noticed it comes with a fully shaped blade, your objective is to craft the bolster & handle. While this might sound like a breeze, it is certainly some work....so as long as you're up for a project, it is very fun.The box comes with everything you need including tools, plus instructions. You just provide the manliness to craft it, and perhaps a few minor tools such as a hammer & drill. This is certainly a project for someone who likes to work with their hands & enjoys projects. I've not fully completed the knife yet, but will update when complete. All told, it's a quality gift & a fun project to work on.

Makes knives
It's a knife making kit. It makes knives. Knives it makes. Well, really it makes a knife but you get to be the cool person that makes a knife. If you have ever wanted to make a knife but want to keep your eyebrows, this kit is for you. If you prefer to go the eyebrowless route, this kit is still for you because home forges are expensive and knife kits aren't as expensive. No one had to know that you didn't forge the knife, all you have to say is "yes, I made this because I'm cool".

Nice knife and a great project
Ordered this for hubby - he loves to tinker. This was perfect. He’s been busy with it for a few weeks. He did manage to cut himself on the blade- lessons learned. It’s a great gift!

Boyfriend took it to work and all the guys were jealous.
The product, tools and whole set up was impressive and high quality. I originally thought the cost was a little steep but the quality and experience is way worth it!

Best Birthday for your Dad
This product was absolutely the perfect gift for my fathers birthday. He has really been into the show Forged in Fire that airs on the History channel. When I stumbled across your product and saw that I was able to provide my father with a little touch of knife making, I knew it was going to be the perfect gift for him. When he opened his gift his face lit up with joy. Since he has received the gift, I believe I may have given my dad the inspiration to start a new hobby. I highly recommend this gift for anyone who has a vast knowledge with tools or just anyone who is willing to step outside their comfort zone to try something new.

Wood scales are not stablized!
I wanted to get into knife making and this was a great way to explore and start. One thing I did learn is that the wood scales they provided are not stabilized wood. This means that the wood will shrink and expand with the change in weather. Eventually this could lead to the cracking of the wood handle. There are ways to prevent this from happening so do your research. Overall I really enjoyed doing this project and plan on finding other kits to try and make gifts for family.

Returned
The first box we got had no instructions and the epoxy had leaked everywhere. So returned and reordered. The second box had instructions but the epoxy had leaked. I got this for my grandson. He and his Dad are having fun working on it. But I would try to find another manufacturer.

Husband loved it
I bought this for my husband for Christmas. He is one of those people who doesn’t say a lot and you figure out if he likes a gift by what he does with it. So many things end up on a shelf and still sitting there. Not this.. he immediately took everything from the box and studied it. He wanted to use it right then but company was coming and he had to put it away. As soon as everyone went home it was set up on the table and he worked it every spare moment he had until it was done. He has some carving and lots of building experience so it wasn’t difficult for him. Someone who had never done this before needs to allow plenty of time to put it together and patience. He did cheat a bit and used a Dremel and some of his wood working machines to do the initial cutting of the handle and later some sanding. He did carve and hand sand on it and enjoyed it. It took him about 2 weeks to complete doing it in his rare spare time. He has since gotten another knife kit and is about to start working on it. Finally a gift he liked!
