Linux Fedora 17 Recognized This Memory and Great Price Too !
I purchased this memory as an upgrade for an old Dell Inspiron 1501 that originally had 512 megs of ram. I'm using the computer as a print server running Fedora 17 Linux. The computer ran Fedora 17 no problem but it was a little clunky so I decided to upgrade the memory. I bought 2 - 1gb memory sticks, and it was well worth the investment. I've read that Linux doesn't recognize all memory but for the price I thought I'd take a gamble with these. The memory worked great, Fedora 17 recognized the memory at boot up, and the computer runs pretty smoothly now. This memory is a steal at the price, and works great with Fedora. I'm extremely happy with this purchase and if you're running Linux I highly recommend this product.

perhaps a better analysis of the memory could be made
The memory upgrade didn't work, but I suspect that was an issue with the Dell laptop. The Dell laptop would not, for reasons unknown, allow an update of the BIOS, a step that was necessary in a previous Dell laptop to get the memory upgrade to work. This Dell laptop didn't upgrade, and the memory upgrade failed to operate at all. It was necessary to put the original memory back into the computer. If Dell's system would provide the user with some information, perhaps a better analysis of the memory could be made.

More memory is good
Adding more memory to laptop really improved performance. I try to increase memory on any computer to max capacity as it greatly improves computing experience, the more memory, the less frequent swapping of files between computer memory and hard drive.

1 GB RAM Memory Upgrade
I received the 1GB RAM Memory upgrade for my Dell Inspiron 1501 before the estimated delivery date and I'm truly impressed about that. It was easy to install and I am hoping this will give my laptop a bit of an 'ump.'

Wasn't compatible
I bought this with hopes to expand my RAM. Company stated it is directly compatible with my particular laptop, a Dell Inspiron 1501. When I installed the memory, my computer wouldn't boot up at all. The only reason I am not returning this item is because I don't want to take an additional loss for the cost of shipping it back. It's just not worth it.

Perfect
I inherited a old dell 600, the system was slow. Slow I bought more ram, after doing so, the computer OS sped up. For $8 its a no brain good upgrade

I bought a memory upgrade hoping that it could expand ...
I bought a memory upgrade hoping that it could expand my RAM. As Michelle Rodthfelt stated on a previous comment, the company stated it is directly compatible with my laptop, a Dell Inspiron 1501. It is not. I had the same issues as Michelle, when I installed the memory, my computer wouldn't boot up at all. I am not wasting my time and money returning this item. It's just not worth it.
