I occasionally have trouble projecting my voice. Therefore, I need an amp that will allow me to be heard by a small crowd outdoors or indoors even when I have to speak very softly. This 12-watt unit arrived charged and ready to test. At first, I had to turn the volume all the way up for voice amplification, and even then it seemed very poor. But then I connected my MP3 player to it and turned the volume dial way down before trying some music. Glad I did. WOW... the speaker was quite loud even at low volume. Clearly, it's more than capable of decent amplification. (Enough to do damage.) So, what about the microphone? I noticed that the instruction manual illustrated the mic being worn on the right side of one's face. Yet, the picture of the head band in this position isn't accurate. Actually, the mic can be worn in a variety of positions, provided the cable reaches the speaker (it's a very short cable). So I wore the mic over my left ear instead, putting the mouthpiece right in front of my mouth as before. SO MUCH BETTER in my case. Still not quite as great as I'd hoped, but it has proven to be sufficient for my needs. The speaker clarity seems pretty good, too.The speaker has a nice, tight metal belt clip on the back, plus two rings which can be used to hang it from a strap (included). Be warned, the wire connecting the mic to the unit is short and the head clasp can be rather loose, especially if it is not worn around the back of the head as intended. However, I did not find any of this to be bothersome. I tend to wear the speaker on the strap around my neck, as this gives the microphone cable more slack. I've had no issues at all with feedback or screech, which of course is possible if the microphone gets too close to the speaker.Some day, I'll have to try this unit with a different mic. But right now, I'm quite happy with this unit.

As a tour guide needed a portable amp system for use in an open-air jeep when driving on public roads. The Voicebooster Voice Amp proved to be an excellent choice for my needs. Simple, easy to use with a good battery life (up to 12 hours before recharging), easily adjustable volume, and a good quality wired microphone that fits comfortably. I am a professional swim coach. I coach six days a week, working with kids ages 6-15. The indoor pool environment is full of ambient noise, and the kids I work with can't hear me unless I am constantly projecting my voice, which means I'm yelling for three hours a day. After ten years, two bouts of pneumonia, an a chronic sore throat and hoarse voice, I was finally convinced to purchase a voice amplifier.Holy cow...what TOOK me so long!?I've only had this unit for three days, so I can't yet speak to its longevity, but the clarity of sound, the decibel level, and the ease of use have all been excellent. I haven't had ANY feedback issues, but I do wear the speaker quite low on my hip, and I'm somewhat tall so it stays a good distance from the microphone. The kids can all hear me, even from across the pool, when I'm simply speaking in a "normal" voice. In fact, they said my voice sounded "funny" at first. I told them, "Yes...this is my NORMAL voice!! I'm not YELLING anymore!" It's already losing its hoarse quality as well.But the REAL value is my emotional and physical well-being. I am amazed to realize now just how fatigued I was getting, how exhausting it was to be YELLING all the time!! I can now see that yelling, whether I was "angry" or not, raised my blood pressure and caused physical stress. I am now SO relaxed and calm, I don't need to strain to be heard, and coaching is once again enjoyable!

As a teacher with a mask and shield, this has come in handy. But this being said, having so much going on around my face is a lot to deal with while teaching. They have a strap to wear the pack around your neck but it's too heavy to wear for over 8 hrs. The clip works well so that's my choice. I have to figure out the feedback. It pops up when I turn it the louder sections.

My husband bought this for me on the second day of "the Big E" (Eastern States Exposition) in MA. It is a 17 day fair - 11 hours a day talking to people over the noise of a large crowd. I had lost my voice by the end of the second day. He found this item on Amazon.com and bought one for each of us. It shipped immediately and I had it in my hands in less than 2 days. It was ready to go right out of the box - already charged. Easy to work. Could talk in a whisper and be heard across the booth, but not so loud to interfere with other vendors. Has good volume control so you can adjust for your own needs. Had good battery life - lasted through the whole 11 hour day each day. Recharged well each night. Worked so well had other vendors ask where we got it - two of them ordered one for themselves. Went directly from there to the Fryeburg Fair in Maine for another 8 days - 12 hours a day. This unit worked great the whole time. Would recommend this to anyone who needs a little amplification so won't blow out your vocal chords.

I've used this product while giving group tours on a noisy street and it works great. The volume control is easily accessible and the mouth piece is easily moved. Make sure you have the white line facing your mouth! The only difficulties are the headset is a bit awkward to fit over your ears. I wear a hat most of the time which helps it stay in place. Also when a number of us were sharing one the clip broke off (it is just a plastic piece) so we had to wear it around our necks which is not as comfortable in my opinion. So a more durable clip would be nice. I bought my own because I prefer to hang in on the top of my pants.

Everything you need in one package! Works very well. Be aware that you can get feedback just like with any mic and speaker.
