A few reviewers mentioned that this "square" is not square.That was true for mine as well, but I investigated it further and determined the problem was NOT with the metal, but rather the PAINT. When they put the red paint on it, it seems to get sprayed on the important part of the "handle" right where the rule sits. Moreover, the pain was only on one side and not the other. That made for a very small imperfection in the squareness. I took a utility knife and scraped the glob of paint off where the rule rests on the handle, and re-checked the squareness...now perfect.This is a great design and I find it to be very easy to use and now very accurate. Also VERY easy to pull the ruler out and use it by itself and then pop it back in.

I like the concept of the magnetic holder but it's not without issues. It's super easy to adjust and seems to be square. My complaint is when using it to scribe a line (ie. Sliding it while holding a pencil on the edge) I have found that it slips slightly because of the pressure from the pencil, making my line angled. The other complaint is along the same lines; when using it to check squareness of a blade, such as a table saw, I like to adjust the square from the miter slot to the fence and slide the square along the edge of the miter slot. When using this type of square for that, the ruler will push in (slide in) if the fence is out of sqaure towards the miter slot, making it hard to tell if the fence is square or not without really keeping an eye on it vs measurement markings.All in all, for the price, it's a pretty neat tool. I use it often and would recommend it as long as the caveats are known.

Really nice for quick square check and just pull out the ruler easily when just need ruler. Liked enough to purchase one for friend doing wood work. Checked the square and it was right on

I was prepared to remove some paint to square this square up, but when I did the test, to my surprise it was dead on square. I like the idea of the magnets, because I don't have to worry about the internal parts wearing out and taking this tool out of square. It is heavy and feels very well made. Great value for price. According to the ad it says that there is a case to attach to your belt, one was not included with mine. This isn't a big deal for me, because I will probably be hanging it up anyway, but they should include the holder like they say they will.

I ordered this knowing not to expect a perfect 90. But, it was off more than I was expecting. At about 7”, it was a little over 1/8th off of a true 90. I had to file the inside until I could get it to within a degree. More work than I would want for a 27 dollar square. The magnet mechanism works great. Helpful for one handed use. But the magnet on the outside for the scribe is weak/flimsy. I can tell I’m going to lose it. It falls out of its groove often. I really wanted to like this one because I have many other Kapro tools, but this one was off the mark for me unfortunately. I’d go with the non-magnet version if you value accuracy over convenience.

Wish I would have purchased this sooner! Very easy to use and the ruler portion stays in place.

It seems like a left handed ruler to me. Held in the left hand the inch is upside down and counting backwards. Held in the right hand the inch is ok but I mark with right hand, which is holding the square. I wish they made this inch only and readable left or right. I do like the magnet. Would not buy again with this ruler.EDIT: I've looked around and it looks like this is on all rulers which are both inch/metric. I'll keep searching for an imperial only ruler. When held in left hand I want 1" to be on the right (both scales). When held in right hand I want 1" to be on the left (both scales). I have several like this but they only go to 16th inch.
