Wow! Very Photographs and Easily Understood to-the-point Directions! This is a MUST!!
When I first received this book I was thoroughly pleased, but when I opened to the foreword and the pictures to follow I was in awe! The pictures are gorgeous! WOW! This is a very rate production surfing instruction book. It's filled with gorgeous pictures that will help illustrate the authors' instructions. The book though, assumes you have a bit of surfing experience, and not to say it won't benefit beginners as it will. I really liked the fact that the instructions are very easy to understand and follow. As I read through some of the instructions I visualized how I surfed, and what I was doing wrong. I think that saved me plenty of mal-used waves. The book also goes to the extent of helping the reader understand tides, why waves build up, etc. I appreciated those sections as well. The autoher also points out what it is to use the full wave, and illustrates what a beginner to an advanced surfing line would look like. I found that I was taking the moderate/beginner line! I thought this book brought new light to my surfing and that's something I really needed. Thanks to the authors for providing this for me! MOreover, when my girlfriend saw the first couple pages she was impressed too! She might even pick up a surfboard!

Probably the best surfing book I've read so far...
Ok, I'm a photographer so visuals are HUGE for me. This book is gorgeous. Seriously. It would be worth the money just for the photos. But it's got SOOO much great information for beginning and intermediate surfers. 10 minutes into this book and I've already picked up more than reading magazines, watching videos, surfing the web (I'm much better at that right now, BTW), etc. Because I'm such a visual learner, I really appreciate the detail that they go into to break even simple things down.As I said, this is probably the best surfing book I've read so far... out of about 5 or 6 (so I haven't read them all). There are things in this book I will probably never do. I'm more of a longboarder and I don't expect to do half of the tricks and more advanced things they show with short boards. BUT it's really great to understand HOW they are done so I can appreciate the sport that much more!I can't wait to take this with me for my 5 week Hawaiian adventure as I try to improve my skills. Thanks for an awesome book!

A bit of a picture book
Lacking in detail if you really want to push your surfing up a notch or two. A nice book but for a good surfer you're better of with Taj's book or getting some surf coaching at a good school. They have a few quotes from the big guns of surfing but they've obviously not contributed to the content!
