Lick!: Mini Board Book

Great, engaging, enteratianing book!
My daughter loves Matthew Van Fleet books (she is now 15 months). The only thing you have to be careful about is if your child is destructive and you leave the book out, some of the moving body parts (in this book mostly heads), might get torn off. This is not a reflection of the book quality, though. These books are well constructed and have a wide variety of textures and moving elements. In this book, my daughter particularly likes the first page where a "scratchy' tiger tongue can be found. Definitely consider buying the "Munch" and "Sniff" books as well!

You'll Like Lick!
Who could resist rhyming lines, tigers, and bears? This charming board book uses poetry, motion, art, and tactile experience to introduce children to animal tongues of varying colors, shapes, and textures. Sturdy construction will hold up to hours of reading and play by toddlers who really love their books. Interesting word choices provide excellent opportunities for teaching vocabulary. Targeted for pre-schoolers, but the material would also be good for beginning readers.

Fun for toddlers and parents
My favorite of our Van Fleet books (we also have Tails, which is fantastic). This one engages my toddler and 9 month old and I have fun reading it. Even at the 3rd or 4th reading of the day I have fun when I get to "thirsty little tiger tounge lap lap lap!" It seems well constructed, too, although I wouldn't leave it with my kids unsupervised because I don't doubt their abilities of destruction. We got it as a gift and I would buy it as a gift for a friend.

Describes tongues, and baby loves it
This is the first book in a while that my almost 5 month old has actually enjoyed. We used to read every night, but I guess it was boring. I bought this after seeing it in a store and he smiled at it, tried to eat it, let me read it 3 times in a row before I was tired of it and called it a night. It's got everything a baby book should have: touch and feel, moving parts, rhyming. It's perfect. I've also ordered "Sniff" which hasn't arrived yet and after his reaction I'm thinking of ordering "Munch", just for some variety.

Nice Book
Great book to read to a little one, age 2 or under (although a little too fragile to let them handle it). Great illustrations, cute and clever manipulatives, nice touch and feel aspects. Just the right size, nicely bound and constructed, worth the slightly pricey cost. Sound purchase.

Great author! Wonderful books for little ones.
Fun, interactive books for young children. Makes my 7 month old smile every time we read it, and his 3 year old cousin loves it as well! There is a cadence to the writing that make the story a great book for pre-readers to begin their print journey. We also own "Sniff!" by the same author and love it for the same reasons.

Love these Licks!
My 4 month old grandson discovered his tongue and has it hanging out all the time, ready to lick something! When I came across this book, it was perfect for him. I read it to him and his little tongue is out, trying to lick the book! So cute!

Great book for 6 mo.+
Love this book for the little ones. Both of my kids love it too - perfect for 6 mo to 1.5 yrs. Just be careful - little ones will want to rip the moving heads! Nothing a little glue didn't fix.

Great books and well made
My 9 month old loves all three of these books in the set. The 'story' could be more interesting, but he loves the moving covers and pull out pages so much. Pretty sturdy too!

Engaging! Interactive! Colourful!
My daughter was given a few books at her 12 month child care appointment, and since she showed immense interest in those, keeping an eye on the future we invested in a library that could last for a few years and still remain relevant. My favourite feature of all Mathew Van Fleet books is there construction and ability to withstand toddlers hands.Excellent book, has 4 push in/pull out flaps within 14 pages depicting different sounds when an animal/reptile/bird licks food. 2-3 images per page, big enough to engage a child immediately. My daughter now 15 loves to enact different licking styles and make sounds, at least she tries too. This has helped us easily transition her into lift the flap books and some small story books.Unlike the other popular Mathew Van Fleet books (Heads, Alphabets etc) This along with Munch and Sniff are small in size and can be held side to side when open by toddler easily.
