Lambda Lamps - Ideal Custom Lighting Lampshade Kit L

I first bought one of these while in Venice. In fact I bought three, but gave two away. Oh, what a mistake! Ever since I have wanted more.Oddly, it was cheaper for me, delivery-wise, to order two lamps separately. However, as per my instructions, they were, sensibly, posted together. They arrived safely in a bubble-wrap package with two kits, instructions and a cord with a switch (which I couldn't use as the outlets are different here). Once you understand the mechanism, like with like, assembling them is pretty straightforward, and there are plenty of guidelines on the interweb. These lamp pieces are made of a quite robust plastic (more than my original), so you may find you need quite a bright bulb inside of them if you want a good amount of light. I'm not sure what the cable tie is for - I just made the last hole around the light cord itself, and that seems to hold it in place well enough. I am very pleased with how they look.My only quibble was that each kit had been packed with a regular brown rubber band around the stack of white pieces. This had obviously been there for some time and had left the top and bottom pieces of each kit slightly stained with yellow stripes. I requested 4 replacement pieces, however, and after a few weeks, they arrived. It's possible you wouldn't be able to see them when the lampshade is up and lit, especially if you put them at the top, but I would have KNOWN they were there.

My daughter put this on her wish list.She went on and on about how great they are. We watched a video on youtube about them. They did look cool, so I went to the mall to check them out. They are "infinity lights" which are sold at one of the kiosks. I tried to ask the woman at the kiosk for a little information, instead I got a hard sell that I had trouble getting out of. She quoted me 35 dollars-45 dollars for this little kit. She wanted me to pay $25 dollars for the color changing led light with remote control. She was having a hard time taking no for an answer. When I walked away, she shouted, "You aren't going to find a deal this good on Amazon." Ding!! Did she say Amazon? My favorite store is Amazon! I went straight home and searched for infinity lights. I found a better deal on Amazon!!! The only problem I encountered was finding one that could get it to me in time for Christmas. This kit was shipped from inside the United States so it only took about a week to get to me. Great seller, same product as the mall, quick shipping. I'm happy I could get the top item on my daughter's wish list (The light bulb is on Amazon too).

I had previously bought a Lambda lampshade in Venice which was a softer more pliable plastic. This lamp from Amazon is made from high gloss shiny plastic which is almost brittle and I thought I might snap the pieces when I was putting it together - but I didnt. When it is finished the light effect is the same as the one I bought in Venice. So it is OK but I was just worried how much manipulation the plastic would take before bits broke off especially as you have to pull it apart to change the light globe.

Shade parts were well made and simple in design. Shades up to 30 pieces are reasonably easy to assemble. The huge shades are difficult to assemble. Shade looks best with lamp that throws light in all directions. Shade has nice appearance.There needs to be hardware for mounting shade on a pole lamp, or for hanging, a way to reliably hold the lamp in the center of the shade.Hot incandescent lamps should be avoided. They could cause the shade to melt or catch fire.

Although I did not follow instructions that came with purchase they did go together without any issues. The smooth on one side and rough on other really helps knowing direction you are going with them. I would recommend if wanting these lights. Only complaint I would have and not company fault but a better way for light cord attachment instead of going thru an attachment point. I made 2 large and 1 small icicle light from 2 Large kits (each kit had 30).

The most complicated, obnoxious item I have ever put together - and I've built a motherboard before. I found youtube videos (in French) that helped me accomplish the assemblage (it comes with useless "directions") - couldn't have done it without them. Granted, it is GORGEOUS hanging in my place, but I am just waiting for it bust apart should a mild wind blow through.

Coming from across the seas, I was worried about how long it might take to get my purchase but I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived literally weeks before I expected it. It took less than 2 hours to put it together and if you have any trouble, the instructions are pretty clear and concise, but you do need to read them, then refer to them several times to be sure you're on the right track. I was pretty proud of myself and am getting lots of compliments on how lovely it looks on my porch. A good purchase, no doubt!

I thought I was careful ordering a large but it's clearly going to be much smaller then I expected. I say "going to be" as I have yet to get it put together. I'm good at puzzles but I'm still puzzling over this one. I know it can be done... just no luck yet. In spite of that, i LOVE the looks of these and truly want the bigger one. Guess I'll decide if/when I get the first one put together.
